  • It’s dissapointing but not surprising
I was laughing when the warriors thought they were awesome despite only being up by 2 tries when they had every ref decision to their way, we had 2 disallowed tries and they had 2 allowed which were questionable and we self imploded with errors and penalaties

we could not have served it up on a platter any more for the wahs

    • The loss is disappointing but not unexpected.
      Our best player was Pauga

      Big game next week.

But he was part of that young group of players that Politis and Robinson were talking up in the 2024 off season around the time of the Robson signing.

I'm not against Robson I like him so including him is a bit of a stretch but it's still somewhat valid.

        • Our discipline cost us dearly tonight. Every time the Warriors scored it was off a six again or a penalty. We piggy backed them all night long. We weren’t able to defend well enough to propel them.

          • If the last few years have taught us anything,it’s that a top 4 finish is imperative if you want to win the competition.

Teams like Melbourne and Penrith understand that hence why most of the time they start strong to give themselves the best chance at the end of the year..

Bellamy mentioned last night starting strong in round 1 is an indication of a strong preseason and all players buying in over summer.

What we showed tonight was not good enough, losing by that margin was even worse..

This is on Robinson,he needs to fix this next round as we have tough games coming up.

            • Foketi was an absolute star in reserve grade. This was the highlight of the night for me.

He should be in first grade every week

11-4 penalty count. Not many teams will go close to winning with that statistic.

It's amazing how much we get hammered in the penalties. Year after year.

I actually thought Whyte, Collins, Wong & Egan were some of our better players.
Collins had 5 hit ups in the game

we were dumb though mate. I think we got unlucky with several decisions, but we just don't help ourselves

                      • The media post match summary is always so selective they never give the full story it’s so scripted more than ever. Since Herr PVL the game has changed for the worst. The two hand rule diabolical

Fahu 17 runs nearly 200mtrrs but only 26 tackles compared with 44 from Collins. I think this speaks to the game plan of leveraging their skill sets - Fahu power carries and Collins effort. Wouldnt surprise me if this was tactical. Also, we had less possession so that tips defensive stats over offence in that type of gameplan.

                          • Penrith shut out the Broncos tonight - 26-0 - Early days for all teams but as a takeout Penrith will be well and truly in the mix come final times even this early in the season. You just know they will - Ditto Melbourne.

The Roosters will need to get to that level and there is plenty to work on and improve on going forward.

Funnily enough we were on the wrong side of an 11-4 penalty count in Auckland back in 2014 and torched the Warriors 46-12

The game plan was much more effective back then: Grind them out in the first half, flog em in the second when they're gassed now we play hero ball for 80 minutes it's jarring to watch at times.

I like Robson so I'm not going to rubbish that one but you can't spend an entire off season telling everyone who will listen that we are backing the youth and then make these kinds of signings and tell me we're still all in on the youth. All of these youngsters are replaceable at any given moment.
Robson was signed before Ioelu had even debuted. Even with the benefit of hindsight I still would've signed Robson but you have to judge the club at the time the signing was made and the information they had to go off at that point. Neither Moriaty or Ioelu had debuted and Brandon Smith was very on the nose (pardon the pun).

I also don't believe the club have expensed their promising young half - Toby Rodwell. I think people just overrate Hugo Savala's ceiling. A 1yr deal for DCE is not at the 'expense' of Toby Rodwell.

Backing youth is not about never signing another player, that's an over simplification of the strategy. Where youth can't fulfil the need of a first grade position to a satisfactory level we are always going to need to look externally. Competition for spots is a healthy thing.
