  • Roosters Stats/Data From Rugby League Project

Red. Could we please make this a sticky? This page has all sorts of information/data/stats and other stuff about the club's history that some may find useful. It's all housed in one central site and is updated regularly. This would save multiple new threads being started as well.

Highlights that Toops this year can become our most capped player. Also, and excuse me while a suppress the vomit reflex, we had Redfern Oval as a home ground in 1954???

Nothing or no-one will replace Bates.

This is more stats/history/data based. Great work whoever puts it together. I love stuff like that and would happily volunteer my time and skills to help build something like that.

Soon, the entire first page of the chookpen will be comprised of stickys!

It's a good site though - I especially like the results page for the 1974 pre-season (Wills Cup) final. Except, as usual, Easts got caned in the penalties!

1985: 1 try vs Parramatta, 1 try vs Manly, 1 try vs Wests, 2 tries vs Souffs
1986: 2 tries vs Illawarra, 1 try vs Balmain, 2 tries vs Norths.

I used to love watching those matches with my Dad..the KB Cup and Tooths Cup as well..mid week comps..no way would this happen now in this day and age. Plus the players all had regular day jobs too, quite often blue collar such as garbage collecting, concreting, poker machine maintenance etc.

My pleasure Roosterfarian. It really is a one stop site for any sorts of queries that might come up throughout the season and it saves us all from having to search online.

I hope all is well for you and your family. Here's to a very positive and hopefully successful 2026 Bondi postcode premiership campaign.

LOL..argh the stickys..I'm sure everyone now knows that my old account (redwhiteblue) is not the ex wife of anyone on here. I don't know whether to be alarmed or flattered that the sticky has been viewed nearly 480 times. Is it the same person reading it over and over or 480 separate people.

Anyway, thanks very much Red for sticking this one as it will save us many hours of arguing with AI and Google..

Oh my poor mother used to cut across Redfern Oval to get to work at a factory..but she married Dad and moved to Qld in 1948..

Yes, I honed in on Toops' stats straight away..I really hope he gets the record. Such a quiet, humble talented man. My favourite grand final is the 2013 - the game Toups silenced the Wolfman, who was never to be seen or heard from much after that.

I'm not sure how accurate that is, i cannot find any evidence of Easts using Redfern Oval as a home ground in 1954, the only thing i could find about 1954 was Easts home game against Newtown was played at Henson.

                        I found this though

Yes, the Eastern Suburbs Roosters played four home games at their rivals' home ground, Redfern Oval, in the mid-20th century. Despite it being the traditional home of the South Sydney Rabbitohs, Easts hosted matches there in 1948 (vs Norths), 1950 (vs Balmain and Souths), and 1966 (vs Balmain), achieving a 2-2 record in those games.
                        Sydney Roosters
Key Details regarding Eastern Suburbs at Redfern Oval:
                        • Matches Hosted: 4.
                        • Years: 1948, 1950, 1966.
                        • Opponents: North Sydney (1948), Balmain (1950, 1966), and South Sydney (1950).
                        • Record: 2 wins, 2 losses.
                        • Context: These were considered "temporary" or alternative home games during that period.
                        • Sydney Roosters
Also you can add Campbelltown down as a home ground as Easts played one home game there also in 1986 while the Sports Ground was being demolished, it was Kevin Hastings 200th game for Easts.

What an insult to one of the club's greats. Surely they could have played at the SCG ?

Yep absolute insult, i just did a quick check of the SCG and the Swans were playing on that day. Not sure why it couldn't have been played at the Sports Ground though as the last game ever played there against Norths was 4 rounds after this match was played.

This morning when I left for work at 5.30am, the polite young man who lives upstairs with his parents was also leaving. He was dressed in full Rabbitohs gear..I showed him my Roosters keyring as he kindly opened the door for me as I had the laptop and umbrella. He said he’s one of the lower grade players and also works at the club. No wonder he can never seem to get back into our security building as the lock doesn’t work for that particular apartment..LOL..even our grand old lady of an art deco block senses Vermin..
