Yeah only one game (trial) and most of the boys were probably stuck in first gear but I got flashbacks to Chad Townsend from last year. DCE made Drew Hutchinson look like he would be better, faster in comparison from the game against Parra.

I hope DCE proves me and others wrong as the season progresses otherwise shift him to the bench and throw Hugo back in with Sammy if we're really supposed to be a threat to the title this year.

I don’t know why people think that Sammy is in the Broncos plans.
They have a great 5/8 in Mam & they have signed Pezet to take over from next year on a multi year contract.

Yes they're fine with those, I was more concerned with a possible partnership with Katoa at he Dolphins, but with Schneider going there, I'm certain Sammy will stay with us. In reality, Sammy knows it's him or daylight to next up at the Roosters.

I was dead against signing DCE as I think his best years are well behind him and Hugo the local boy was terrific for us last year and a big part of our turnaround once Robbo jerried onto Chad not being up to it.
The right edge defence stiffened up when we had Rads, Hugo and Toia in the line together . DCE has become an arm grabber the last couple of years and has a tendency to give away penalties and 6 agains for slowing down play the balls.
Could be my deep seated hatred of Manly coming to the fore but i am not a fan of Tommy Talou nor Garrick who I think are average.
DCE coming to us at the end of his career smells like a step into a post career media role.
Hope I'm wrong but he's no Cronk.

It's another Dom Young brain fart signing that won't work out and he'll be offloaded to another desperate club mid contract.

Below was my post in March when he was first being linked and the majority of my posts since reflected a similar tone with ever declining confidence in his signing the longer the season dragged on. I think it's fair to hold judgement on his time at the Roosters until he has played more than 40minutes in a trial game though, that just feels like common sense but you also wrote off a 19yr old halfback last week on the back of a trial so patience isn't exactly your strong suit.

DCE should feel privileged if given the opportunity to play next to Sam Walker.

This is Walkers team and if DCE comes it should be as a secondary playmaker. His running game which was his strength has already deteriorated and so will the rest of his game.

DCE has never been a great organiser, the comparisons to Cronk are wildly misguided IMO. I respect immensely what he's done in the game but he's struggled to organise that Manly side unless Turbo is fit and they're scoring more than 20pts a game.

My biggest concern with signing DCE is it's very much an all or nothing play. Because there's a very good chance in 2yrs time both he and Teddy hang up the boots/move overseas. And then we are back to rebuilding our spine with a new fullback and 5/8 for another 12-24 months.

I also worry we lose Toby Rodwell, I just don't see someone of his talent hanging around in NSW cup for the next 2 and a half years.

People get upset when we lose talent like Ethan Strange... This is why. We would rather sign a 37/38 year old half than back our own talent halves.

Overall I'm a little on the fence about DCE, appreciate his quality and what he would bring with his years of experience and knowledge of the game but he's a deteriorating player who will block the path of our younger talent and is a band-aid fix.
