  • DCE on debut

Goodness me. Where do I start?

"It was only a trial". Sure. But regardless, if you watched the game, he could not have been less impressive. Looked a yard slow on every play with the ball. Had that kick charged down. Because he was a yard slow. Looked like he was running in quicksand. Running crossfield.

Sam showed who the boss is with that little period of game owning dominance. DCE is no longer capable of anything like that.

If that's all DCE has, he won't be in first grade by Round 3. Hugo will replace him. Even if it's not by Round 3, it's inevitable.

We can’t crucify him after half a game. But Sammy clearly outplayed him and if his presence gives Sam a confidence boost or brings out his competitive spirit or whatever you want to call it then that’s a bonus.

Sammy looks like he's bigger around the quads and glutes.

      It can't hurt I guess.

Batesy. It's never gonna happen. Give it up! Besides your boys have Bud Sullivan.

That's a fair call MR. I just think the guy is fading fast. The only thing left that people talk about now is his supposed kicking game.

That's when you know time's running out.

Hugo on his young legs, just so on the way up as a player bigtime all across the field with the ball and without, and with his own better kicking game, will soon take over.

Oh I agree that DCE is past his prime and never liked the signing. But I’ll just wait and see as he may surprise us as I’m just a fan and not a coach. But..well…let’s just wait and see a bit longer I guess lol.

We'll find out soon enough if DCE is up for the challenge as the NRL is unforgiving.

Need to understand he was never bought to be an xfactor or someone at the peak of his powers we have enough attacking strike. His calmness & game management is what’s needed & this will take Walker’s game to the next level.

Too early to tell - but if he turns out to be a flop - surely the coach needs to move on.

Give it 6 rounds to see how things are.

Yes I guess we should MR. And I guess we will have to. His longevity and his status in the game gets him that, I suppose.

As you say, he might surprise us.

This is very correct. Cronk took 3 months before he started to fit in- although im not expecting DCE to make the same sort of impact. Thats why its only a 1 year contract at half the price he was getting at Manly.

I am very nervous about the Broncos having Haas off their books, doubled with Reynolds retiring. They are going to have a huge amount of cap space to have a crack at Sam Walker. Got to lock him up now. If we lose him its going to set us back years. Someone ring Uncle Nick and get an update on where it all stands!

He was flat as tack last night, Hugo would have done twice the job. Hugo's already a better game manager than old man DCE.

Calmness and game management? Old man DCE wasn't that calm when his kicks were being charged down or almost charged down. On the back foot and under pressure for every kick he attempted. Slow as a wet week.

Hugo's a different class. You'll see in a few weeks when DCE is dropped.
