smart decision from the nrl. clearly someone like rads who grew up in nsw should be eligible to play origin. having grown up as a foundation club junior how can he not be eligible?
international footy is a different beast. league will never be able to match soccer as an international spectacle and needs all the help it can get. to what extent you allow players to switch their international allegiance is a matter of taste. personally i think they go too far in restrictions. so long as a player satisfies a nation's criteria, e.g. a grandparent as a minimum, then i don't have a problem with them switching allegiance as much as they want. this is footy, not war, you can have different allegiances

I admire your loyalty, but Radley playing Origin this year is about as funny as some clown telling us before the start of last year that Nat Butcher would be playing Origin. Mmmm, who was that?Originally posted by Batemans Bay Rooster View PostRads is made for origin. Looks super fit on all the socials since they got back from Kokoda. I reckon he looked a bit chubby last season. A fit and firing Rads is origin quality for sure. In a tough origin game, he's the sort of player who'd just thrive in that arena, and if he made it through alive, it's guaranteed he's had a huge game.
There's 12 rounds played before origin 1, Rads misses the first 6.
If we're winning after his return, he's every chance. And also, whichever of you idiots is asking should we swap Rads for Cameron Murray?? For farks sake what a disgraceful question. Not worthy of any other response.
At lock, Yeo, Murray, Barnett, Clark and Koloamatangi would be ahead of Radley for selection. Maybe Whyte could be in front of Radley too if eligible; he goes alright at lock as well.
No chance in the 2nd row for Radley.
Radley from 3 or 4 years ago might be a chance, but even then he still wouldn’t be as good as Yeo.

I wonder if there will be a time when all the players playing for NSW and Queensland in SOO won't play for Australia - i.e they have played for Tier 1 Nations New Zealand, and or England so are not eligible or they elect to play for Tier 2 nations such as Tonga , Samoa , Fiji , PNG, Cook Islands instead for instance.
Interesting thought - Unlikely but you never know.

Not your point but I reckon Butch similar to Maubs - wouldn’t let anyone down at that level but probably won’t get the opportunity.Originally posted by Steggles View Post

Unfortunately Sally can't ask AI if N Butch is cut out for Origin. Perhaps in 10 years time

The NRL will be busy working out eligibility - mmm Ronaldo Mulitalo comes to mind - Poor fellow got his QLD kit and trained all week as 19th player- late call up into the run on side when Reece Walsh pulls out - then the last hours- oh sorry son you can't play - you don't meet the SOO eligibility criteria - Residing in NSW and or Queensland prior to your 13th Birthday. - moved to Queensland from NZ when 13
Not sure why under 13 though?
Laurie Daley and Billy Slater probably had an interim squad of 40 or so players pencilled in - back to the drawing board and buy an eraser.
