Talau isn't much better. Cannot believe we signed both these 2.

Based on today and the one first grade game I saw of him last year I would hope he doesn't even crack NSW Cup

Wasn't that bad..yeah right edge defence disintegrated 10 mins before half time.Hugo was steering the ship well while on the field. One call against us a dissalowed try swung all momentum their way.Think we missed 5 goals.SG ballers got given a go.We have to fluck Junior Toup HD is easily the worst player we ever signed. Zsexy Rexy blew a few chances .Did good buf needs to get his fitness up and build his body strength up .Toby ok.Egan Butcher was the best of our forwards loislau was good...young Benny the hooker very good while on...smart player.

          The good

Egan looked vg. Ioelu is going to be tough to keep out of the 17 if he keeps developing. Hugo too. Losalu looked decent
Rex can be very special, but probably not for a year or two

          The bad
We lost the ruck pretty badly
Kicking game was not good at all
Va'a's lack of fitness and work rate is going to be a problem
Nat needs to show more to earn a place in 1st grade
OMG so little pace out wide.

            Overall Thoughts
            - 1st 20mins was great, really enjoyed how Hugo Savala ran the team. He has to be in the 17 somewhere
            - Ioelu looked sharp and Rex had some nice touches his first game back
            - Losalu will force his way into the 17 at some stage this year - hard not to pick him
            - Egan Butcher still drops balls but had some nice runs

            Tigers have some quality kids
            - Makasini owned Tommy Talau everytime
            - I don't understand the point of Junior Tupou
            - Was pretty disappointed in Jake Elliot and Toby Rodwell, we lost all direction without Hugo

Two sides to the game needs to significantly improve defensively before he is a fixture in first grade.

                  Interesting hit out.

Not surprisingly, Hugo and Benny were our best. Rex & Losalu were mostly very good, I thought Pauga was OK whilst on. Egan was effective except for his obligatory drop. Magale did some good things and has real potential. I was impressed with Jackson Stewart towards the end.

I expected more from Foketi, Wong and Nat Butcher against this opposition. Toby Rodwell was average and the biggest bloke on the field is a bit of a myth thus far. Talau & Jnr Toups were rubbish and many of the young guys have a long, long way to go. Our defensive structures out wide were dreadful. You wonder if we practice tackling at training at all.

Regardless of the result, it was enjoyable to watch our young guys have a crack.

My only real takeaway from this game is that Hugo Savala needs to play plenty of first grade this year.

No injuries, most of the team got enough minutes to clear out their lungs and burn off some rust and we got to see some young kids test themselves at a higher level and in a more chaotic environment where combinations are changing every 10-15minutes.

Good warm up for the season. Don't need to read too much more into it in my opinion.

                    • If Cooper Cronk does have accurate intel, he reckons Hugo will force his way into the 17. This means our team will look very different to what most of us think. Where does C Watson fit. Interesting.

Hope this trial doesn't mean it is of course a classic Robbo slow start to a season again. This approach produces duck eggs.

Looking forward already to the Eels clash.

Lets see how DCE pans out, for me it should be Sammy and Hugo, no one else threatening.
Incidentally when does Wong live up to the hype.
I take the biggest bloke mentioned is Vaa?

Rodwell was crap today there's no way he is the guy Hugo Savala was levels above him in quality and I don't believe for a second that Rodwell will be the DCE replacement and if we lose Sam Walker the club will go hard at getting someone like Katoa or god forbid even Luai

If we lose Walker, we're stuffed.

                            • It’s just a trial. A first hit out so the coaches can get an idea of where the players are at with their fitness, skill levels and combos. Some players missed a lot of footy last year so needed the hit out. A few like Rex and Toby are showing potential so it’s a chance to give them a test at the higher level - well sort of higher. It’s also a chance to see where players need work like in defence. I think next week some of the big guns will play but probably only the first half.

Yes, exactly. Also, Barba was thick through the thighs, arse and hips which helps
