I'm not so sure, I don't think Watson's value is compromisedOriginally posted by Bates View PostOr Rads at lock when he returns, Wong right edge, Watson and N Butch on the bench.
Watson utility value is now compromised with the 6 man bench so you'd be tempted to start him. I would!
Under normal circumstances I would have him in the best 17 although off the bench

This has to be your best ever.Originally posted by Bates View Post
Raiders were very good yesterday. I find these trails highlight a teams depth so I now have the Raiders as favourites to win the comp. That's based on their form last season, depth which was on display yesterday and desire after making a meal of it in last years finals series.
I thought Daine Laurie was outstanding in the halves. Great pick up by the Raiders!
1 trial against a Melbourne NSW Cup team & the Raiders are going to win the comp.

Steep and Foketi are outstanding young talents however they'll need to bide ones time.Originally posted by "gaz" View PostRamsey has been doing many reps at fullback and in the backs with the main squad and been impressive according to Teddy
And I have a feeling Steep is right in the mix
Both are pups. Steep is 20, Foketi 21
Our timing is all out in any case as by the time the young guns are ripe the senior players are either past it or retired. Eventually (Like 7 odd years) we'll be serious contenders and a force for some time. There will be a constant supply of young talented players coming through the pathways systems so the timing shouldn't be an issue.Last edited by Bates; 02-14-2026, 03:35 PM.

100% it's compromised as he's a specialist utility who can cover multiple position.Originally posted by "gaz" View Post

The dynamics of the Bench Utility have changes with the 6 man bench. A teams 18th and 19th man will most likely be specialist in the areas that Watson would generally cover.
A 6 man bench no longer requires a utility!

I'm sorry Batey but I can't agree with you. Halfback is a serious problem for Canberra. Yes Daine Laurie did well yesterday but he is serviceable at best and will not lead the Raiders to the promised land IMHO.Originally posted by Bates View Post
