not just the backline but a very dear pack
Souths could easily offload wighton, cheese and arrow by the time Haas comes, all off contract in 2027, and none of them would be offered the money they are currently on.

IMHO there is a snow ball's chance in Hell that Hugo signs with Souths. He is an Eastern Suburbs boy. The hatred runs deep with Bronte Board Riders!

By 2027, the cap hits $12.1M. Haas at $1.2M is under 10% of the cap—the same percentage elite props have commanded for years, only the 'number' looks bigger now because the cap is higher. The Broncos were willing to pay him nearly the exact same amount ($1.16M/season) to stay, which tells you his value is based on data, not just hype and media build up.
Souths threw in Free Dental plus TPA's from Centrelink and the Australian Dental Association.

Money talks Red. Short window for NRL players to make enough $$$ for life after footy.

You will get no argument from on that point Bates but there's plenty of teams and plenty of money that is not South Sydney.

True but there may be no other suiters.

He may potentially be the perfect fit for them based on their budget. He'd be great value for $500k or less. Sandon Smith is $500k and is half the player!

If you were on around $120k at the Roosters and Souffs offered you $500k and there are no other suiters anywhere near that money, what would you do?

The other thing is do players get into the rivalry like us fans do? They're professional athletes who need to have a professional attitude.

Sorry Bates but we are never going to agree on this subject. As a born and bred Eastern Suburbs boy I will never believe that a fellow local would join Souths particularly when there will be big money on offer from Perth and PNG. Also Parramatta will be looking for a new half when Pezet moves to Brisbane. Canberra my be in need if Coby Black and Ethan Sanders don't work out,. I could continue but I know I wont persuade you that I am right!

Yes it probably was. I’m hoping our revitalised spine can get some early ball going his way this year.

Sometimes players or their partners don’t want to leave the area and start again.

                      Happy wife happy life.

Robbo and Uncle didn’t say no to Keary, Gus , Butcher Brothers, Suaalii etc because they were Souffs player’s.

The rivalry is just between the fans and it’s real however the players only buy into it when we play against each other.

I can guarantee you that Sandon Smith wished that Souffs signed him for 500k and he was still in his eastern suburbs home.

Radley & Cam Murray are best mates.

There would be very few Roosters players (only Radley)that wouldnt play for Souths if the money was right.
Money talks over loyalty in the end. Just an example Keaon Koloamatangi is a Souths man through & through but in the end he took the highest offer as 99% of the players would.
If Hugo was offered $600k a year by Souths I believe he would take it up, I dont think its going to happen but my point is if Hugo was offered enough money it would overtake his loyalty to the Roosters.
I would think its a great thing if he Hugo was able to get 600K a year & playing halfback & killing it.
Would I like to see him doing it with us? of course but like Bates said money talks & its true.

                              Have you met Bryan Fletcher?

You guys might be right but I won't be convinced until the day I see Hugo wearing Red and Green.
