Waerea-Hargreaves will be suspended for one Telstra Premiership match.

Burgess's shoulder didn't come into contact with attacking players head, it was ruled a head clash, JWH's contact was ruled high and careless, they said his shoulder came into contact with Ross's head.

Exactly. Burgess went for the shoulder charge. I don't think he deliberately head butted his victim, but the result of his tackle attempt was serious damage on his victim, with Burgess' skull causing the facial damage. The video ref reviewed it and didn't see a problem. That is ridiculous. The rule is, if contact is made directly with the head, then you face the consequences, that is the risk you take if you go for the high impact shoulder charge - if it goes wrong, you pay the price. In this case the only price paid was by O'Donnell - he should be entitled to take the ball up without having his face ripped open by a reckless, albeit probably not deliberate, headbutt by a massive bloke like Burgess. The rule regarding shoulder charges gone wrong make no exceptions for stray headbutts - Burgess caused real damage and should have been charged; for JWH to be suspended this weekend while Burgess plays is yet another fist up our arses by the corrupt NRL heirarchy.

this suspension really annoys me as it was after a forward pass which the ref blew the whistle for and then blew the penalty after the video ref got involved
