I have had buffering issues on 4K. It is annoying because the problem is clearly the Kayo servers being overloaded and they tend to solve it by permanently reducing the bandwidth settings in Kayo, which then need to be manually set back.

Having said that, watching the NRL on a 4K TV with a 4K stream is a visibly and audibly better experience. The premium annual membership mentioned by OP is the way to go, and if you watch sport all year round it works out cheaper than the Kayo standard monthly subscription.

Be interesting to see what the new broadcast deal will look like including the monetary amount and length - talk of 5 billion over 7 to 10 years for the 19 team comp in 2028 - Talk of a return of Monday Night Football in 2028 as well.

Potentially 4 of the 9 games each week from 2028 will be on FTA if Monday Night Football returns

      In the mix

      FTA

      Nine
Seven - Who will broadcast the 2026 Rugby League World Cup
      Ten

      Pay/subscription TV

      Fox/Kayo
      DAZN
      Amazon Prime
      Netflix
      Disney/EPSN

      SOO

Possibility of separate bidding for the 3 game series ? - Not sure that will happen though as FTA bidders would want both NRL/SOO Broadcast rights and not have to bid separately for them

Get yourself a firestick and google or search “fully loaded firestick how to guide”
really easy to do once you get the hang of it and before you know it you’ll have access to all live sport, movies, tv and PPV fights for free.

I set a few up 18 months ago and watched the entire NRL season last year with no issues. And yes it is illegal but I don’t care

Has to be an older model firestick - the latest 2025 versions have stopped being able to easily jailbreak

          For anyone interested of course...

I just pay $70 a month for Foxtel, Ive had it since even before Foxtel it was Galaxy TV, I just accept that I want to have the option of watching every game live but most importantly every Roosters game live plus getting to watch the soap opera NRL360 & the other shows based around the NRL. Im too old to stream or download or watch Kayo on my phone, I just like watching football games on my nice size TV sitting on my comfortable lounge drinking beers so to do that its $70 a month around $2.25 a day thats less than a coffee or buying the paper every day, Foxtel is worth it in my book.

              Correct you are mate.

Android based sticks work exactly the same. Can pick one up on AliExpress for $30. They work exactly the same but don’t need any log in details like fire sticks.

You've been given quite a few solutions. "Can't do that, might have to go to the toilet." "Can't do that, might get forced out of the house." (forced out by a housemate, or by a fire, or by the landlord?)

Maybe just cop the $6 a month increase. That way, you can go to the toilet, or leave the house willingly, or get forced out of the house, at your leisure. You'll have every possible situation covered.

Roosters now offer a digital membership, could've done this earlier before I got it from another team

I’ve been with Foxtel for almost 20 years. I rang them recently to cancel as I only watch the sport now that my kids are grown up. I told them I wanted out unless they could match the Kayo subscription fee. Long story short, by the end of the call, after lots of wrangling, they reduced my subscription to $45 a month, and I kept the entertainment channels & HBO max (which my remaining daughter at home watches).

I was a Foxtel fan from day dot then Netflix came along so now I pay for Kayo, Netflix and YouTube Premium which I watch on the good ole smart TV. It's a lot cheaper and more comfortable than spending countless hours at the pub or local club.

Who here has cup holders on their lounge?

I took the first option - just with the two streams. Just happy next year I don't need to give cash to the Eels, as I assume the Chooks will keep going with the offering now.
