And shoulder charges!Originally posted by Steggles View PostAn better fix would be to scrap the 6-again rule and biased refereeing. I hate that we need to keep changing the rules to lessen the impact of other rule changes. Go back to the rules from the early 80’s I say, including contested scrums.Last edited by Carlos Parra; 01-12-2026, 10:05 PM.1985: 1 try vs Parramatta, 1 try vs Manly, 1 try vs Wests, 2 tries vs Souffs

If they were serious they would sit down and work out exactly what the game should look like as a starting point. We want ball movement not dummy half running. We want tries but not at the expense of defence. etc Do we want it to be all about the ruck speed (designed so defenses aren't set properly...) rather than an off laod being the catalyst for attacking a retreating defense?
Think about the fact we play most game at night therefore the impact of dew...
One of the things that make this game great is the ammount of things that are "big" plays outsid eof the actual scoring...getting repeat sets. smashing a player and they drop the ball, fullbacks escaping from in goal or converserly a great kick and chase which traps the fullback etc.... huge plays which other games dont have as the ball changes possession all the time.
Then look at every single rule and whether it is needed now...take guess work out from refs. Such as whether a kick is played at or not? If the kick is not good enough to clear a defender, then why do they deserve six again (that rule was brought in when the marker could play at the ball)
I'd change rules arounf bombs so the ref doesnt have to guess.. (I ahve many ideas which would be better , easier to decide and make the game exciting!)
I'd dissallow dummy half dive overs which always end up with a million repalys (so do bombs)
I'd probably consider playing 12 on 12 but allow more lenience in the tackle... (huge change with a ,ot to debate!) and also allow only one dummy half run per set or something...
Why did the wrestle come in (dummy half runners and surrender tackles) then think of the whole of game and rules to stop this!
Anyway...a lot to unpack but that is the serious apporach which won't happen!

Thing is Abdo and V'landys are making the big bucks for the game and have good intentions however, they never played the game or loved and followed it like we do so they don't understand the whole 'change the fabric of game' thing. Furthermore it's not just the fans that don't like this new rule. It's also players and coaches!
