yes, we did start with the big 3 middles - and it worked - but i think leniu coming off after 10-15 and then back on for the last 10 odd is an improvement. you don't have a period when we don't have one of whyte/collins/leniu on the field and rather than having one of the big 3 staying on for the full 40 you have leniu as a fresh replacement at the tail end of the half, ready to go hell for leather. whether he comes off after 10 in the second half would depend on how the game/interchange situation is.
I think what you say could work very well. Albeit....while both Robson and Conor for sure are and can be 80 min players, they'd probably be more effective at 60-65, if our bench forwards are fit enough to cover the extra with good work rate

robson tends to play the full 80 but you might be right. still it's good to know we've got options

      • Does no one think DLS Va’a is a good chance of being in the 17/19? He would have played in Rnd1 last year if not for his terrible illness. With another 5 months of recovery and training, don’t be surprised if he features.

I guess trial form will decide the final lineup. Our NSW Cup side should have a very strong pack this year.

I will be shocked if DLSV hasn't been granted a release by July 1

Combine his possible release and Angus leaving at the end of the season gives us more of an excuse/reason to go after Tino !

PS: I see some of our fringe forwards potentially signing with the Bears and perhaps Superleague teams over the next few months.

Hope not, both him and his brother have so much potential...

I really hope they kick on, even if it is not with us

                • Be interested to see how Xaiver Va'a goes in the ESL having signed with the Newly promoted York Knights for 2 years ( 2026/2027) - Certainly both had a unlucky run with injuries and illness - There is football in them and they just need consistent game time,

Not sure who both brothers would be eligible to play for at the International Level - Both being born in American Samoa - maybe USA perhaps Australia even not sure about Samoa - both are eligible to play SOO for Queensland though.

Neither of them will ever play SOO, believe me.

Savala has potential , great long kick and d , but that aside where else is he strong , i reckon he will develop but at the moment ab unpolished diamond for mine.

Better we polish him than someone else does.
                            We need to keep him.
If any more players leave we'll be back to struggling.
Last season we were thrashed by the Dragons and Knights in the pre season games, and thrashed by the Broncos in round one...having wasted 2 years on Suaalii.
I get it, "trials are only trials", but to win a comp, or even go close, you need a very strong reserve grade side.
