Both the Cowboys or Titans will have enough money to spare - His brother is already in Nth Qld

By 2028 could very well be:

    6.Savala
    7. Rodwell
    13. Fa'asuamaleaui
Did Sammy choke in your opinion against the Sharks last season?

It may take him another 3 to 4 years to develop into a player that can perform when the blow torch is applied.

Mitchell Moses who's 31 struggled in pressure games up until the age of 26. He now has the game on a string!

Just awesome news. Hugo's a proper player. Why would he be moving to 13 or another position? Cherry Evans gone after 1 season, 2 at best. There'll be injuries. Walker could play Origin if we're travelling.

Hugo is a half, and he's said that himself. And a proven NRL level half already, one season into his career.

And you're all just hanging out for Rodwell, in a couple of years? Ignoring the star we have just unearthed in Hugo, 20 games into his very impressive already first grade career? No guarantee Rodwell will ever play first grade. Lots of really good junior level small body halves never make first grade.

Hugo is a proven first grader. And on the up big time.

It's brilliant news that he's extended.

Certainly didn’t have his best game but I thought the whole 17 was off and flat compared to where they had played
also for Sammy to come back and within 12 or so games be in the top 10 or so halves for try assists I thought was amazing
However he does need a game controller as the other half which hopefully DCE and Savala can provide in the next 2 years

I think it's unfair to put that loss on Sam Walker when the entire team played like a bunch of busted asses
The difference in our team when Walker came back from injury was noticeable, he adds a lot to our team

I'd be sad if he does go as there are not many players like him, but it's nice to know we are well covered if it does happen.

Agree that we performed much better when Sammy returned from injury. What worries me though is how he performed against the Sharks in the elimination final. This is when it counts! He went to pieces.

He's no longer a rookie having played 84 games in 5 NRL seasons. Exceptional stats during the regular season count for little. The signing of DCE also highlights that Robbo has lost a little faith in him imo and perhaps he understands Sammy's limitations.

I was always hoping he’d stick out this year until DCE is gone but learn from him in the meantime before returning to the halves in 2027.its excellent news if true and also helps cover any injuries to our halves.

Also Sammy coming off an ACL, would have been been a factor in regaining confidence.
As for talented young halfbacks coming through, we've been down that path many times with little result. Until that occurs, Sammy/ Hugo are the best we have.

Hugo was one of the good stories to come out of 2025, no one thought he would play first grade. I can't see how he fits into the 17 as anything other than a half. Radley, Watson, Whyte and Foketi are ahead of Savala in the race to be picked at 13.

DCE will surely only play one season and although Rodwell appears to be the one anointed to partner Walker long term, but Savala has proven he can play at that level.

I'm glad he has decided to stay.

good news. maybe his contract would have special conditions allowing him to look elsewhere if he's not playing first grade but great that he's staying

Gday Billy. I'm glad too. Agree with everything you say bar one thing. I don't believe Rodwell has been anointed for anything. He's a promising junior, sure.

Plenty of promising junior players never make first grade. I hope he does and I hope he's the next big thing like everyone here seems to be so sure of.

But Hugo's way in front of him at this point. Even only 20 first grade games in, he's already a proven first grade half.

Just about everyone on here under-rates Hugo. I do not know why. He'll be a rep player.

                          Really?!

Aspiring players aren't included in their club's top 30 for no reason.
Better judges whose opinions matters most, rate him highly.

Rex Bassingwaithe is another annointed one you should embrace bro.

Gman illustrating the quality of his posting again. Great to hear from you mate. Very incisive as always.

I think you're probably drunk, but I don't know, who knows with Gman.

                            Hugo's a re-signed 23yo first grade half. Signed until end of 28.

The other bloke hasn't even played first grade. No one's annointed Rodwell as anything.

You say silly things mate. Often.

Days later after the lightweight DT story confirming nothing other than dribble Hugo hasn’t signed. I trust the club will announce it when it happens. Typical DT click bait for the naive.

You obviously haven't watched Rodwell carve up players of his age just like A Johns, C Smith, B,Fitler, D Lockyer etc did when they went through the grades. It's clear as day that he's a generational talent!

Your obsession with Savala makes it hard for you comprehend just how good Rodwell is. He hasn't played NRL yet for the betterment of his development. He'll eventually explode on the scene and become a household name in the not too distant future. You'd think you discovered Hugo the way you defend his position in the team. Proper lol
