I suppose...but a true Bears team belong in the Northern part of Sydney which stretches up to the Central Coast perfectly.Originally posted by ARD View Post
Geo expansion the key. Can’t keep congesting the east coast.
They have a stadium & a good population to support them.
Perths been tried & failed...Central Coast was stupidly never given a go.
Poor old Bears fans have been shafted for a long time.

Central Coast is Roosters area as they have spent a stack of money and time in that area in both the Women's and Men's game. Are you advocating for WA Bears to take over this area? - Tell us all what the Bears have done on the Central Coast since 2002 as far as development of Rugby League compared to the Roosters ?Originally posted by Eggspert View Post

Unless the Bears are given some kind of financial advantage over the rest of the comp like PNG have been given then I can't see many players heading over there. If you're a Brisbane, Melbourne or Sydney based player why pack up your life, leave your friends and family behind etc to head over to Perth and play under Brad Arthur (Rumoured coach) unless they're paying significant overs or you're really looking for a big lifestyle change. I personally think the Bears will overpay for 1-2 good players and then the rest will be made up of players that other teams don't want or young players.
As for us, I think the only real risk would be Sandon Smith going there because if DCE signs he'd be behind Walker, DCE and Savala.

Why would the Bears invest in the Central Coast when they were shafted by the NRL with their expulsion from the competition & subsequent failed bid to relocate to the Central Coast rejected.Originally posted by King Salvo View Post

From memory John Singleton had a very promising & popular bid rejected by the NRL back then...a face slap to a team who were loyal to them during the Super League war.
Yes the Roosters have a pathway program with the Central Coast Roosters through Flegg & SG Ball (I think? You would know more than me).....but i wouldn't know how really successful that has been in the long run to call that "our area" ..we take 1 token game there a year.
To me that partnership is diluted when you have Manly & others taking a home game their every year also. It doesn't feel like an exclusive Roosters area.
If things were done right earlier then that area would currently have a well established thriving Bears team & development system the last 25yrs.

Anyone and everyone will start getting linked to the new clubs
it may make clubs make a decision early to re sign players
now also make players and agents hold off longer to see if they can attract a bigger earn
of our younger players Whyte is a must and first priority to lock up them Wong next

We currently have prime pick of the best CC juniors, I'd rather keep it this wayOriginally posted by Eggspert View Post

Quite simple really, it would be another Sydney side.Originally posted by Eggspert View PostTell me why you can't have the Central Coast Bears instead of the Perth Bears.
Just doesn't make sense. Dont agree.
On the Bears, Western Australians are very parochial, and will not support it if it becomes a de facto North Sydney side. This expansion will fail if it is not a genuine WA team. I have lived in Perth, and they carry a chip on their shoulders about "Easterners"......should be a Pert Quokkas, or something similar, their own colours.

Billy Moore said the other night that they will push to have them play one game per year at Nth Sydney Oval. So they might be the Bears, but they're not North Sydney.
And I'd like to know how they come up with the figure being bandied about that the Bears' reinstatement is great news to the 200,000 Bears supporters. 200,000 ? If they had 200,000 supporters, they would never have been turfed out of the comp all those years ago !

Perth teams in all their sports have been a success, so the NRL will want to give them a pretty competitive team first up, winning brings support.
but, will the game be any more popular than rugby union?
Perth and Adelaide seem to be successful in similar sports, yet Adelaide hasn’t ventured into rugby union, or shown any interest in league. AFL,cricket, basketball and soccer seem their limit.
gonna be a long trip from Perth to Auckland, maybe that will be a scheduled magic round game every year to save an 8hr flight each way.

and many moved from the east to west for mines - working opportunities
this is why more interest in union and league
the premier grade league and union comps are stacked with Kiwis, pacific players and some South Africans

Yes I also believe that their will be a push for a game (maybe more) at North Sydney Oval, will that be one of their home games ? A bit rich for a club traveling to the east for away games. Really can't see any Sydney side giving up their home game to play at NSO, could ask ManlyOriginally posted by Hawkeye View PostBilly Moore said the other night that they will push to have them play one game per year at Nth Sydney Oval. Greater Sydney which includes the Central Coast is a very congested market as it is for Rugby League with 9 NRL Clubs - It would not make any sense to have a 10th team.Originally posted by Eggspert View PostTell me why you can't have the Central Coast Bears instead of the Perth Bears.

Expanding into new and emerging markets makes plenty of sense commercially. - More and new Eyeballs watching the game/ increase in Revenue etc
I remember back in the old days - both NSWRL and VFL had the 12 teams - Folk were saying it would be the death knell of both codes if they ever embraced expansion - i.e adding teams from outside these comps traditional boundaries/bases.
NSWRL/NRL overtime have added to their comps - Canberra / Illawarra/Newcastle / Brisbane / Gold Coast/ North Queensland/Melbourne/Perth Reds/Adelaide Rams and now in 2027 Perth-WA Bears and in 2028 PNG
VFL/AFL Have added Brisbane/ Sydney / Gold Coast/ Adelaide/Port Adelaide/Perth/Freemantle/GWS Giants and in 2028 Tasmania - South Melbourne relocated to Sydney and Fitzroy relocated to Brisbane.
In any case the Roosters are heavily involved in Rugby League on the Central Coast in grass roots/academies and junior reps both Men's and Women's with their partnership with the Central Coast Rugby League - Central Coast Roosters.
