  • Just an exercise.

Too much time on my hands, nothing else to do, and I am obviously looking for reasons to be positive about our chances .
    So I did this exercise.
Based on each clubs last 5 games entering into the finals.

    Melbourne 5 wins 181 to 74..........plus 107
    Newcastle 5 wins 165 to 62..........plus 103
    Roosters 5 wins 148 to 62..............plus 86
Broncos 4 wins one loss 167 to 84......... plus 83
    Penrith 4 wins one loss 152 to 76.........plus 76
Cronulla 4 wins one loss 124 to 72........ plus 52
Warriors 4 wins one loss 115 to 102...... plus 13
Canberra 2 wins three losses 84 to 143...... minus 59

We have the equal best defence with newcastle
We have the 5th best attack.

Melbourne are in great form and should be favourites over the Broncos
    Penrith should beat the warriors.
    We should beat the Sharks
    Newcastle should flog Canberra

Then..... we go to Brisbane coming off a win to play the Broncos coming off a loss.
We can win that, their young blokes might panic, so blot out Reynolds and we are a real chance.

Then we face Penrith.... thats the big one, we should be full of confidence after beating Brisbane.
They will be coming off a week off, it could work in our favor.

If we get to the big dance we will probably face Melbourne.

One game at a time. I don’t want to look too far ahead.

        I've tipped

Broncos. This ones a coin toss. Reynolds needs to be on his game. Walsh is worth 8 points.
Panthers. Too much big game experience and so clinical. Cleary is the master game manager.
Chooks. Confidence is sky high after last week and we're the best footy team on the planet.
Knights. Seriously good footy team with the worlds best and most influential player. I could watch Ponga play all day!

Though a shadow of former recent sides, Robbo has got the got these boys up at the right time. After the Souffs win he said in characteristic Zen style that he was most pleased with the game plan buy in from all members. In the past he's called it a "living thing" - that intangible mix of personal determination, confidence, controlled emotion, skill and collective adherence to the game plan. It's been building for weeks now and if we settle in early we win easy.

Confidence is everything! It unlocks a teams and or individuals potential. You first need to believe that you can win a comp before it will ever happen.

When they last met it was 4 tries to Roosters two for a 22 -12 Sharks win but the game was marred by 2 Rooster Sin Bins. one of which was the infamous and laughable "Hip Drop" by Nat Butcher. Hynes and Moylan had good games but, as in a few of those slump losses, there wasn't a lot in it at the bell.

And one of either the Worriers, Knaughts or Faiders will be in a prelim this year. Geez who had any of them going that far at the start of the year?

100% mate. Even in the 6A Rugba Lig era, the team with the stingiest defence, Penrith, have dominated.
