Kane Evans was a handful for the defense each time he ran. He made a few errors in the second half though.

But he's going to be a mighty player when he gets more experience

Well I sure did, he was busy at half time having ago at Moga infront of the other Jets players for not 'playing to his standard'....."you should be running the length of the field or at least 100 meters what the hell is wrong with you", keep this up & come by Monday you'll be training your arse off while everyone else will be having the day off............Jets camp was not impress with Brian, especially Moga & close friends. Whatta dopeee.

OTE=fred68;203570]Mortimer and Mitchell were both excellent.

Mitchell must be in first grade. Seriously, Smith is an A grade clown.

Moga was throwing defenders off him regularly. I didnt think the spear tackle was that bad but it's a lottery with the judiciary so who
        knows.

        I thought carney did well.

Henry looked impressive to me, a smart footy player with ability.

        Also, I couldn't find smith anywhere.[/QUOTE]

Well done to all the boys, just wonder how much different between FG and reserve grade...always good to see any players moved up to the next level and played well, but I'm pretty sure FG it's a whole different ball games compared to the lower grades. One step at the time it's the best way to learn and develop the up and coming young players, seems like all the coaches and the club got a pretty good idea where are they heading to for the future.

This is the unfortunate thing - there is too big a gap between NSW Cup and NRL and it needs to be fixed.

I was watching Canterbury at Henson a couple of weeks ago and Michael Lett scored a brace (as he often does in Reggies). A great example of a player who is far too good for NSW Cup but not good enough for NRL and there are a bunch of them.

Best post I've seen on here in ages mate.

Something I've been banging on about for ages.

Shame a lot don't realize when they're watching lower grades the difference to 1st grade.

We need 3 grades in EACH club playing the same day and training together, all co-ordinated, like the old days. A true pathway for kids to develop properly for 1st grade.

                    The FlogPen .

                    You know it makes sense.

Great signs from Evans and Moga today. Both players were physically dominant over their opposition for the entire match. There was no doubt whether they had the talent but today they showed that they can be just as impressive against men.

Evans did lose possession 4 times unfortunately (one turned into a chip kick lol) but he bent the line nearly every run and almost found space a couple of times. Very mobile for such a giant, ran onto Mortimer inside pass into a small gap like a 115kg fullback. I think most at the game would agree that his front row partner Isaac Liu's charges were just as, if not more, impressive with much safer hands today.

Moga was very good, in particular in the second half. He didn't make any long breaks but did make a stack of tackle breaks and at 18 was just way too strong for his opposition. I think he broke though the line twice from memory and had several other impressive runs that created opportunities for his team mates. Defensively he still has a fair bit to work on. He is a bit lazy when the opposition runs a backline play towards his side, or looks it at least. I think the key is for his winger to trust in his strength because there were multiple occasions when he Tupou came in to help out and the winger got in space. But on every occasion that Moga looked in trouble and Tupou stuck with his winger Tau Tau was strong and quick enough to complete the tackle.

Sort of agree about the spear tackle Fred. For those not there, from memory the Manly player had regathered possession after a Jets mistake. The manly guy was standing in a tackle and not really going anywhere. Moga then came in from the front with a convential driving tackle, he just timed it and picked the guy up so well that he flipped and landed on the back of his neck heavily. It wasn't a hand between the legs tackle so that may save him a little but I'd imagine he'll get at least 2 weeks with his loading.

Awesome day again at Newtown, and it's on again next weekend out there against top of the table North Sydney!! Get out there, you won't regret it!!!

Yes I agree about Liu, he was impressive today as well.

Moga does look a bit lazy at times in defense. Something he needs to work on. But what a handful for the opposition when he has the ball.
