sucked in. thats what you get for being more concerned about throwing the big bucks at first graders and not looking at what you already have at your disposal to work with. How would they feel if they missed out on foran as well. and this bloke is a lock/5/8 so they could have still played him in firsts potentially down the track as a forward. classic stuff

exactly, on another note, we should have a go for paul carter as well imo. excellent talent from their 20s and i think i have mentioned on him on here in the past. very skillful but has a motor and build not disimilar to paul gallen. with a raft of first graders off contract over there and burr and finucane both ahead of him in terms of of young lock forwards, he could be another gem we could steal from right under their noses. although he didnt have his best game in the limited time he got in the 20s origin, he is awesomeOriginally posted by BUDDY View PostWell they did miss out on Foran.
Didn't they make a big play for Mortimer just to get Parra to sign him and not have enough money for Keating and then took him as their real target. Well that worked out really well.

Roz - If a guy is third in line for a U20's spot, I will go out on a limb here and say, he probably will never play first-grade..
I like the fact that you are so interested and knowledgeable regarding developing players, but geez...
Many will not like this but, most junior rugby league players have a greater chance of beating their spouse than playing first-grade..

he's first choice in the 20s - finucane plays NSW cup and burr can play edge backrow or lock. carter has been playing off the bench, starting lock and he had a game at starting prop last week from memory that was on fox that i watched where he absolutely killed it. aus schoolboys rep as well. dont worry, this guy is no mug. reminds me a lot of lou goodwin except with a bit more meet on him and a little stockier like gallen. also can cover dummy half which attests to his skills with the ball in handOriginally posted by Pass the Ball View PostRoz - If a guy is third in line for a U20's spot, I will go out on a limb here and say, he probably will never play first-grade..

What an offensive and ridiculous statement. If future first graders don't play Under 20's at some point where exactly is it that they come from dude?Originally posted by Pass the Ball View PostMany will not like this but, most junior rugby league players have a greater chance of beating their spouse than playing first-grade..

Think about this. If Mitchell Aubusson plays back row for us, for lets say 8 seasons..How many backrowers will play junior league at Easts but never play first-grade. Does it make any more sense now?

but mitch aubusson didnt play his first game of footy in first grade. the fact that not everyone makes it is a sad outlook. the storm built a dynasty around a promising batch of youngsters. if POS sat around the table with brian and the rest of the coaching staff and said "forget about the young blokes, im going to start implementing a first grader only policy" he would be out of a job. the point is not that they will make it but that these guys compared to everyone else their age have the best chance of doing so. often you will find with 'hyped up' youngsters that it was never a question of ability but more a question of attitude. thats where the coach comes in.
on lou goodwin, he holds the record for the most tackles in a 20s game. was our captain last year and was a massive performer. couldnt handle the riggers of proffessional footy so went home to the country. that to me doesnt yell bad player; that to me yells mentally not cut out for it

That's my point. Very few will make first-grade, regardless of how talented they are in the junior grades.
I am not saying to give up on juniors. I do acknowledge all first-graders played junior league, but very few junior league players will play first-grade..
I agree entirely with the attitude aspect..

Lou was arguably our best prospect. He was a huge loss.Originally posted by roz View Poston lou goodwin, he holds the record for the most tackles in a 20s game. was our captain last year and was a massive performer. couldnt handle the riggers of proffessional footy so went home to the country. that to me doesnt yell bad player; that to me yells mentally not cut out for it

Buddy,Originally posted by BUDDY View PostHe seems to be a good prospect but I'm not sure he is signed. Someone mentioned it was in RLW which I don't read. If anyone has the publication maybe they can quote what it says.Bobby considering most of the Australian school boys do play atleast one game of first grade, can I have $50 @ $151?
100% confirmed!!! Spoke to POS at Wed's game.
Also asked him about Tasi's younger brothers. They will feature next year - 1 playing U20's, the other playing either HMatts or SG Ball
