Why are you surprise. I had the Ch9 coverage more than most.
But it goes along the lines of what I have been saying for a while.

You can only get what the market will pay, and RL has been blowing money on players in excess of what the market can support.
All this nonsense about paying players $100s of $1000s to keep them in the game is ridiculous. Its also the long lasting legacy that the super league war has left us with. Over paid players.

Mate the NRL players currently receive 37% of revenue. Compare this with 57% in the NBA and 52 in the NFL. The average salary ofplayers who played in the AFL in 2010 was a touch over $250k This tells me they don't even slightly get their slice of the pie.
