Did I blink and miss it? Why was there no video message from John Travolta?

At one stage I thought he'd come out with Delta Goodrem (who I think murdered some of the songs).
1985: 1 try vs Parramatta, 1 try vs Manly, 1 try vs Wests, 2 tries vs Souffs
1986: 2 tries vs Illawarra, 1 try vs Balmain, 2 tries vs Norths.

I was wondering the same thing Carlos. You aren't the first person to say similar about the music also. We were just too spoiled with Oliva herself and no-one will ever take her place. I'm quite happy not to hear any more dance remix party versions of Xanadu either unless it's Olivia..

I bought this beautiful album of Barry Gibb duets and here he is with Olivia. This song is called Rest Your Love On me

Thanks for the link RWB. My first memory of Olivia dates back to the 70s. My neighbour was a big fan and had all of her country records. I took her on a date to see Grease when it came out. At that stage I was pretending to be an Olivia fan, but by the end of the movie I was kinda obsessed. What a wonderful human being. I definitely shed a tear at her memorial and other than maybe, Debbie Harry from Blondie, I don't think I'll react the same way when any other female singer passes away. I cried when Chrissie Amphlett died and still tear up when I listen to some of her more emotional songs (I'm on your side, I'm jealous and Elsie to name a few).

It's simply impossible to believe that there will EVER be anyone else like ONJ.

That is beautifully put Carlos Parra. I remember the morning when they announced Olivia passed away i was a blubbering mess, i did not take my IPOD into work for days as i knew i would just burst out crying if an Olivia song came up, it took about a week till i could listen to an Olivia song and of course the tears would start as soon as heard the first note. I still have not watched the memorial service yet but have it on the hard drive to watch. Got home yesterday and flicked on the TV and a repeat of Rage was on from the weekend and they were up to the last few songs, the last song was Magic which Olivia performed on Countdown, i just sat there mesmerized by the clip even though i had seen it many times before, turned to the better half and said there is never going to be anyone like her ever again.

You are very welcome Carlos and please contribute to our other music threads also. . I bought that album as soon as Olivia had passed as she had such a deep connection with the Bee Gees.

I used to have a penpal when I was 15 (I followed Parra as a child) and we had met up through Rugby League Week as back then, they had a section for age appropriate penpals. He was a teenage boy from the Central Coast and we ended up writing to each other more about Olivia than Parra . It was when Twist of Fate had come out. I even remember one of the other girls I had gone to school with saying "Oh if I were a boy, I'd marry Olivia!" That was all 40 years ago, but still burned in my brain. For me, it was Judith Durham passing 3 days before Olivia was very upsetting as per my thread dedicated to her also. My birthday week will always be sad now for me as I'm the 3rd August, Judith passed on the 5th and Olivia on the 8th, which was my nephew's 40th birthday. He and his partner (who had met Olivia in a business setting) were devastated. I did nothing but play Judith and Olivia for 2 straight weeks after that and I think I'll continue to do so at that time of year.

Funny you mention that song as it reminds me of someone who is very jealous of me and a friend sent it to me the other day as they recognised their behaviour as it's very obvious.

Every time I hear Olivia's part of this song dedicated to Chrissie, I just lose it. This is from Olivia's official Youtube channel:

So proud of my workplace as we've now raised $912,368 for cancer research. We have workmates cycling from Canberra back up to Sydney starting tomorrow. The heat will be just awful as it's expected to be 35 even over here in the east on Monday. One of my work mates has raised over $20,000 on his own as his wife has stage 4 cancer and his mother is also now unwell. They have small children but that's not stopping him from cycling down from the Gold Coast (he lives 5 mins away from my cousins we realised) down to Canberra and back. Truly inspirational human being. It's been a tough few days emotionally and physically for us and I wisely booked some extra days off to recover.

This lady is our ultimate inspiration though:

Whilst I love the song, nothing beats the original. It definitely was a prescient song and they used it for a very good cause.

I know I've posted on here before how I got away with blasting The Divinyls as a child as Mum was a Little Pattie fan..I said 'Mum, she's Little Pattie's cousin!" "Oh ok then..yes I can hear the similarity!"

Poor Mum had hearing aids all her adult life..now my sister turns hers down when her granddaughter has her little friends over..she told me yesterday, too much hysterical screaming.....

I've reached the age where hysterical screaming annoys the hell out of me. Some times I wish I was hard of hearing.

LOL..there are lots of things which annoy me. I don't mind the laughter of people having fun though, particularly if it's the little ones. My sister's granddaughter (my great niece) missed a lot, being in Melbourne lockdowns for so long, so I don't begrudge her, however I'm not the one living with it, or cancer like my sister and her husband also, hence the turning down of the hearing aids..my brother in law turns up the races..
