Big football fan. Watched it this morning absolutely awesome. They played with intensity desire and heart and got the result we all wanted, with Arnie pulling off the master stroke substitution of the goalkeepers

I have to admit whilst I didn’t really see that coming I did say to a few people in football in a a one off game of that magnitude anyone can beat anyone. Even said our best hope due to Peru being very very sound defensively was nil all and we win on penalties. As the game went on and no goals I started to really believe. Maybe I manifested that. I woke the house up here screaming with joy when Redmayne saved the last penalty.Originally posted by zac View Post

I never watch soccer unless it's the World Cup (and am in two minds about supporting Qatar as hosts as it was a slimy process for them the get picked), but I'm super happy about this outcome (qualifying 5 times in a row I think?)
Not so long ago it was rare for us to qualify, particularly since we had to play a South American team for a spot.
Looking forward to watching it... even if I have to put up with all those ads/banners for Qatar (which have already flooded my YouTube feed).

you could say that the two weeks that the team was able to have in camp was a factor and no doubt it was but i'm pretty sure peru's in the middle of their season unlike our boys. it was a great result. the experience might count for something when they return later this year. i believe souttar should be fit - our campaign went south when he went down so he'd be a big in
