Was only a flying visit, in Tuesday afternoon, out Wednesday morning, weather was nice though for the short time i was there. The roadworks for the extension of the light rail over the bridge was a bit of a nightmare though but even then not as bad as Sydney traffic.

Roosters are playing down in Canberra next season but its on the Friday night of the June long weekend so not sure whether i will get down for the game.

If you like Thai food, The Blue Whale at Flynns Beach is worth a visit. Another favourite in town are the mussels in a neapolitan sauce at Cafe 66. generally all their pastas are good.

Yeah don't ask Canberrans about the light rail project! We will hopefully get to the game this year. Friday night is not the best night though.

I’ve always wanted to take a break up there. I’ve only stayed one night passing through from a trip back from the Gold Coast.

            • Flights to London booked for late August. I’ve been working flat out the past 2 weeks booking accommodation in Belfast, Ireland and England, all able to be cancelled with no deposits required.

Great that it is all going ahead MR
So far i have only put in an expression of interest for a small cruise around the Croatian Islands in September and of course everything depends on both of our health here at home, i am seeing another vascular specialist this week, although it feels like things have improved for me i am still having problems and want to get it sorted completely and also now there is a bit of concern about my hip. It also looks like the better half will need the other hip done before to long so weighing up whether to get it done early in the new year so travel will be possible in the later part of the year. Also having some major works done on our apartment block with new balconies so will depend on when the work starts for that and how that would affect the better half's hip surgery and / or the overseas trip. I just feel if the overseas trip doesn't happen this year it wont at all.

Oh no a possible hip operation and your poor other half possibly needing the other hip done as well. These are the reasons I’m sort of pushing for us to go again next year because you never know when these sorts of things can happen at our age. Part of me thinks we shouldn’t though as it’s so expensive. More than last time from what I can tell so far. It’s getting me concerned as it will be a big dip in our savings but I see this as our last big long haul trip. I think after this one we will stick to NZ, maybe Japan and home. There’s still plenty to see and do in Australia. I do hope things go smoothly for you and your other half. I can still cancel at this stage too as there’s still the concern about my 93 year old FIL.

The vascular specialist the other day gave me a good thorough work over and has ruled out that it is vascular related from the clots, he did think it is more a nerve, skeletal related problem and come to think of it it seems worse when i have back pain so i will look into that in the new year, he also didn't seem to think it was hip related but couldn't rule that out completely. interesting that the blood flow in my ankle was quite weak but behind my knee it was strong. Yes the better half does need to get the other hip done and it will probably be sooner than later, just have to weigh up a few upcoming things in the New Year to work when to have it done.

As for O/S holidays if they do happen, i am happy to lounge around the Greek Island for a while, of course will do London/ Brighton /Arundel and also Scotland. Not fussed if i don't go to Italy as we had planned with the last trip as i just want to have a restful trip and not be on the run around all the time. I found Sitges in Spain was a good break and i could swap that for the Greek Islands. Just don't want to commit to anything more at the moment apart from the expression of interest for the Croatian Islands that we have put in until we get our health issues sorted and also when we get a time frame for the new balconies.

Yeah I think you’re doing the right thing there. Hopefully all the health issues will resolve themselves and you’ll have some relaxing overseas travel ahead.

Just got an email back from the company we were going to do the Croation Island cruise with and that they have not the numbers to go ahead with the second cruise in September so they have cancelled it.
At least now it gives us time to get the health issues sorted and plan for 2027.

That’s a shame, but it’s probably a blessing in disguise as it will give you both the chance to get over your health issues.

                            • Just booked a week away on the mid north coast at a place called Stuarts Point for the end of Jan into early Feb, it is pretty close to where we used to stay at Grassy Head but the accommodation where we stayed there was flood damaged a few years ago and has not re opened for rental. At Stuarts Point we are right on the river so hopefully there will be a few fresh bream and or whiting for dinner at least one of the nights.

                              • I’m beginning to think this next planned overseas trip is going to be problematic. Maybe it’s just poor timing me leaving things to the last minute and trying to organise it and Christmas at the same time, but the planning and booking has not been as smooth sailing as last time.
