That should give you plenty of time to do things and not rush anything. Your going to have a great time. I want to go back and spend more here. Hmmm dreaming of Bruny Island cheese and oysters now.Originally posted by Big Dog View Post
22 days between ferry trips. Yes Bruny island is on the list, staying near Woodbridge for 3 nights and Southport also. Hoping to catch a glimpse of the Aurora Australis from down there. Might wet a line or two and try to catch some dinner.

So is it still a good idea to book Emirates for a trip to the UK in September next year? With all the crap going on in the Middle East right now< I don't know what to do. The problem is it is the best and most efficient way to get to Glasgow, assuming the existing flight path isn't changed. But it involves a stop over in Dubai and passing by the Middle East. Who knows where the current fight will be at in 11 months time.

Oh I still intend to go. Just not sure whether to use another airline like Singapore which won't get us directly into Glasgow and will require another flight from Heathrow or (gulp) Qantas who I swore I would avoid after they left my luggage in Auckland last year.Originally posted by Andrew Walker View Post

That's the thing MR, there is always going to be something that throws doubts or a spanner in the works of a trip being planned so far out. Cannot comment on Emirates and what the situation will be in 11 months but i'm sure every airline will be taking every precaution and there will be everything in place for safe air routes. Have paid our airfare for Japan Airlines, we have a stop over in Tokyo and have friends alreadyOriginally posted by mightyrooster View PostSo is it still a good idea to book Emirates for a trip to the UK in September next year? criticising us for not spending more time in Tokyo apart from overnight, i know that is different to your situation and a stop over in Dubai though.
I would be happy to put this trip on hold ( mainly because of costs ) but the more it is put off the harder it gets to start arranging again.

Dubai is nowhere the conflict zone and flights out of there go across Turkey towards London. You won’t have problem if the rest of the region doesn’t involve itself in it.Originally posted by mightyrooster View PostSo is it still a good idea to book Emirates for a trip to the UK in September next year? Yeah you’re right there’s always something. Just when we’re ready to start doing some serious travel the worlds gone mad with pandemics, Ukraine, the Middle East, inflation. I hope to fly Japan airlines one day when we go to Japan which will be next on my list, assuming we survive the UK. We won’t be staying over in Dubai, just transiting through with a 3-4 hour layover. It still bothers me though, but it’s hard to predict what will be happening in 11 months time as you say.Originally posted by horrie hastings View Post

Thanks Renty. We’re heading to Glasgow first so not sure if the flight path is different. It’s your last statement which bothers me, IF the rest of the region DOESN’T involve itself.Originally posted by rented tracksuit View Post
