What would the repercussions be if we stopped supplying iron ore to China?

The fact that we supply 65 percent of Chinas iron ore imports from Australia would strongly suggest it would be a massive economic disaster for Australia should this occur

Of course I agree with you , just don't think they are behaving in a manner that if I was in business that I would want to deal with them .Think you may find there is more alternatives out there then people think
The quality of our products is some of the worlds best and we will soon have other markets would we be better off bowing to China and trying to go back to the way things were then every time they want to get it cheaper or make us squirm they just stop buying for a while again .Surely that's not a fair partnership .Again just reckon start the process now and try and find new markets

A country in Africa called Guinea has 1.8 billion tonnes of undeveloped iron ore in which the Chinese won a $14 billion government tender in November 2019 to develop the blocks- thats well before we had our fallout with them. What it means in a nutshell is China by 2025 will not be reliant on Australia & Brazil for its iron ore. Australia too should be looking into the future for opportunities to diversify buyers

They want to get more from Brazil was what I have been told I was though told the quality we have is better

Yep that's why we need to find new customers, keep selling to them while we can and get as much as we can for it .I just truly believe they can be trusted or relied upon to do the right thing .

Don't underestimate a collective dissatisfaction from other nations (esp the Five Eyes) with the bullyboy tactics of China towards us. And India arent exactly loving their behaviour, not to mention smaller SE Asian countries like Vietnam and Indonesia who could be options for expanded trade arrangements.

If nothing else a little show of courage and respect for western values in a free world by our Govt may have just poked the Bear enough for the world to see their true colours.

Id like to see a stop or a vast slowing down on all overseas interests buying Australian land, property & major businesses. Im amused when people say China is a threat to Australia in terms of military strength & security. Why would they want to attack us when we just sell ourselves to them?

And India arent exactly loving their behaviour, not to mention smaller SE Asian countries like Vietnam and Indonesia who could be options for expanded trade arrangements.
