      • I just found out the Split Enz setlist for their concert in NZ last night. It’s very heavily focused on their later pop period from 1977-83. So looks really good.

Absolute legend artist and song writer.

Although not related to the music thread i found out star or stage and screen here in Australia, Lorraine Bayly has just passed away.

          • The universe works in magical ways. I was on the bus going down Oxford St yesterday before 6am and this Stevie Nicks song came up, New Orleans.

Check out the lyrics..perfect for Mardis Gras Sydney..I started crying as 2 of the guys I worked with at Gowings passed away within 6 months of each other back in the 90's..

In the city of dreams, lies the city's ghost
            There's a beginning, there's a middle and an end
In this city we reach out for the middle ground
We throw a great party, so hearts will start to mend
We forgive, at least we try
In the midst of the sea of dreams lies a perfect storm
And in the sea of tears lies a city ghost
In the spirit of the Mardi Gras
Well, the people hope that their lives will get better
The people hope that their lives will get better
I wanna get a room in New Orleans
I wanna sing in the streets of the French Quarter
I wanna dress up, I wanna wear beads
I wanna wear feathers and lace
I wanna brush by Anne Rice
And go on down Bourbon Street
I see a sea of smiles (ooh ooh)
I see a haunted city reaching out (ooh ooh)
I see hope in all their faces
Behind the mask of Mardi Gras
Where the good and the righteous walk
And the wicked as well (ooh ooh)
I wanna get a room in New Orleans
I wanna sing in the streets of the French Quarter
I wanna dress up, I wanna wear beads
I wanna wear feathers and lace
I wanna brush by the vampires (ooh ooh)
I wanna dress up, ooh yeah
I wanna wear feathers and lace (la, la, la, la)
I wanna brush by Anne Rice
And go down Bourbon Street, mm-mm
            Go on down Bourbon Street
Within these rooms, I go up to my balcony
And I hang the paintings on the wall
And I open up my gallery and I open up my doors
I stare at the city (ooh ooh), I stare at my city
I wanna get a room in New Orleans
I wanna sing in the streets of the French Quarter
I wanna dress up, I wanna wear beads
I wanna wear feathers and lace
I wanna brush by the vampires (ooh ooh) (ah)
I wanna get back to New Orleans
I wanna sing out in the streets of the French Quarter
I wanna dress up, I wanna wear beads
I wanna wear feathers and lace
I wanna brush by Anne Rice (ooh ooh)
Go down Bourbon Street (ooh ooh)
Go down Bourbon Street (ooh ooh)
Go on down Bourbon Street (ooh ooh)
Go on down Bourbon Street (ooh ooh)
Go on down, go on down (ooh ooh), go on down
Go on down Bourbon Street (ooh ooh)
In the city of tears, lies the city ghost

Not Lorraine Bayley too. I still remember watching the Sullivans as a young tween and when they killed off Grace and John. She was also in Play School for a while. So sad.

              • Oh and Makybe Diva too. I backed her for her 3 Melbourne cup wins. I just went to check the News about Lorraine Bayley and saw this headline too. Again not music related but as we’re on the subject.

Yes, just spoke to a friend in Brisbane who is actually into racing and i said who is going to be third, Neil Sedaka, Lorraine Bayly and then he said the third is Makybe Diva.

Had a pic taken with Lorraine back in the late 80 s, was at Manly with a mate and they needed two strong men ( don't know why they picked us lol ) to stand there and Lorraine was propped between our shoulders, she was facing the camera and we had our backs to the camera, the lovely lady stayed and chatted with us for a few minutes afterwards, had a copy of pic from the Manly Daily at the time but don't think i have the copy now.

What a great memory for you. It’s a shame you don’t have a copy any more.
