Alternative to Foxtel?

Im currently living in an appartment with no hope of getting Foxtel. Just wondering with the new TV deals etc is there any viable alternative for watching live games? I believe the Telstra t-box only shows games 24 hours after kickoff. I know there are some dodgy streams but looking for something a bit more reliable and better quality?

Not to sure about the details, but im pretty sure the entire building must be either Foxtel or Optus capable, involves the building management paying a large sum of money to get the required big dish satellite installed and the wiring. Most new apartments already have the infrastructure but just lack the account with one of the providers.

You need to speak to strata. It pissed me off a while ago when I couldn't get it, and what makes it more stupid is the fact that you cannot even pay telstra, optus or fox to watch a live streamed game over the net. This country is retarded when it comes to options available to watch sport.

You can now get Foxtel over the internet - via T-Box, a Samsung IP TV or XBox. Means you don't need to be cabled to your building - as long as you have fast internet (ADSL2) and one of the above devices you can sign up to Foxtel. The other advantage is that you can sign up month to month. The details are on the Foxtel website.

Or there is always watching the game down the pub.

Telstra are going to offer live NRL on the app like the AFL did last year once the season kicks off I believe.

If you're on the top floor and own the apartment it is possible. I had the same problem, it took a while but I got there eventually. Alternative is T-Box.

I thought I saw a commercial from foxtel saying u can now watch it on ur ipad, u shpuld be able to watch foxtel online in 2013 its stupid.

I always go the pub option...
$100/month for fox (when all I will watch is the Roosters.)

OR

$100 a month on beer. That's about 25 schooies (plus I get the company... always a few Roosters fans wherever you are.)

I think the reason Fox don't want to get too involved in delivering the channels online is because their greatest competitor in years to come will be, and in some cases already is, people watching shows online. As such, they don't want to get people into that habit

I dont see it as a competitor its an expansion of the market, you should be able to buy an online subscription where u can log on one time and not multiple and watch their service. I dont see how that affects anything.

you don't see the ability to watch live sport online and download shows online as a competitor to Foxtel?

"expansion of the market" means more competition which is generally bad for the incumbent

The NRL action link will become active this Friday from what I've heard, expected to be up to 5 live matches on T-Box every round.
