  • Would you leave the suburb or city you love to own your home?

My nephew and his fiancée decided that they wanted to buy a home however couldn't afford to buy in Sydneys Eastern Suburbs where they both grew up. They'd like to start a family in the not too distant future.

They moved to Wagga Wagga and have lived there for 6 months. Today their offer of $520k for a 2 bedroom home within walking distance of the main drag was accepted. My nephew is a plumper and has found work with a local company. His plans are to eventually start his own business. His fiancee works for PayPal in accounts and has kept her old job. She is now able to work remotely from home.

    Both are mad Roosters fans!

I'm stoked for them and wish them all the best.

I would definitely move to the country as I grew up there and am still very much a country girl at heart. My parents moved from Sydney to country NSW when I was 4 years old for Dad’s work and they never went back. They did think about it but loved the quieter lifestyle. I don’t know how my kids will ever get enough money for a deposit on a home here in Canberra. They’ll most likely have to wait until I and their father die to inherit the family home! It really is very bleak for people these days looking to buy property.
