I’m probably not supposed to post in this thread but as a fellow chooks fanatic and human being I, like anyone else has days where my mental well being is at a low. Like today where things are just not going to plan and I’m in a bit of a rut after the chaos and planning of Christmas. Christmas is a great time for family to come together, and we had a great day but it’s also exhausting for those who do all the planning and organising. I like to come in here for a bit of social interaction and most of the time it’s great but sometimes it does more harm than good. I think the hardest thing is when people make judgements about you when they don’t even know you. Social media can be harsh and cold. Sometimes I just long for the good old days. My kids don’t know what it’s like to not have social media.

MR, you are allowed to post anywhere and in any thread in the Chookpen and your contributions are always enjoyable, welcome and appreciated.

I always find the week between Christmas and New Year being a bit flat, when i was working the run into Christmas was horrific in retail and by Christmas Eve you were brain dead so Christmas Day was a bit of a respite before going back to work and clean up the mess from Christmas Eve and then try and get stock levels back up to normal again before they get ransacked for the second biggest day sales wise, NYE. Now that i'm retired it is not quite as bad but today because i pushed myself a bit yesterday i had a day of doing nothing, there was plenty i could have done but i wanted a low maintenance day for myself and i don't feel guilty about it. Tomorrow i am going to go the gym but i am not going to beat myself up for having a very low energy day today.

Thanks Batesy. All the extra sugar from trifle and sticky date pudding wouldn’t help either I’m sure. Thing is I have my extended family visiting in a couple of weeks and I have to do the whole food prep and entertaining thing all over again. Mostly I just feel flat and mentally exhausted.

Thanks to you too Horrie. Being a public servant most of my working life, things tended to grind to a halt the closer we got to Christmas except if you were one of the unlucky few who volunteered to work up to the day while the rest took early leave. My daughter recently got her first job in retail and she’s exhausted from all the pre Christmas and then Boxing Day sales, so I get what you’re saying. She’s dreading the start of school sales in January. You deserve to take it easy today after all those km’s you did yesterday. And all the Christmases you’ve worked through. I think I also need to get my sleep routines back in order as I’ve been going to bed way too late recently.

I already explained that I handed back 2 smart phones to my work place. I have a sensory disability therefore I don't have a use for one. You've lost your guarantee unfortunately as I don't think you read my post in full.

My parents raised me to have a hightened sense of self awareness. (My mother called it having your wits about you.)

To explain this a little bit more, I see, feel and hear things differently to the average human and my family, friends and employer all recognise this. . For further context, I just spent the past 2 years working undercover in a task force on a $20 million dollar fraud project along with my former boss who was in the NSW police force. My BS detector is in-built therefore I need very little devices in my life.

Again, I will say that I'm trying to take some time away from all social media as I live on Bondi Beach and would rather spend my time helping our local charities. The donated items I'm getting from some companies will be coming soon and I'll be making up gift bags to donate to our local homeless shelter and also Lifeline. That in itself is the best wellbeing act anyone can do. Help others instead of thinking abour ourselves all the time.

Bates, you seem to be a good judge of the characters on here so I’m leaving you and Horrie as custodians of this thread during the remainder of the offseason. It would be great if it could be kept going for the sole purpose for which it’s been intended. If they get out of line, direct them to my autosignature for some enlightenment.

Bye for now and happy new year to you and your family.

I have to say after the amount of booze we sink yesterday it’s a miracle I made it to the gym today. Just laying on the couch tonight staying at home doubt we will even see midnight.

On to next year will be off the booze for at least 6 weeks maybe more Time clear the mind and to get fitter healthier and stronger

                        Happy New Year to all

Did 10.5 k on the bike today, couldnt be bothered pushing it any further today. Pool looked feral and packed today unlike the nice quiet times of the last few weeks so skipped it.
