Watched a movie called "All Inclusive" last night on SBS?
A Mexican movie released in 2008.
Has anyone else seen it?
Made me cry like a baby at the end which really surprised me..

If you like that heavy dramatic familiaral stuff then anything by Ingmar Bergman from the 70s would be right up your street.

Ordinary People from 1980 is an Americanised version of Bergman.

BTW, what is "familiarial" and why would you nominate the 70's as a starting point for Bergaman?

By far the greatest film of the last few years is "another year". Anything by Mike Leigh really.

The Killing of America.

Came out in the 70's. A docudrama about guns in the good ole US of A. Really in your face stuff, real killings, you see cops take down guys and the aftermath of gun fights between gangs etc. Makes sense of what happens now in the US with guns and nutjobs.

Plan 9 From Outter Space. Ed Wood Director. Offically classified as the Worst movie ever made. If you see it buy it, you have to see it, actually promotes itself as 'the worst movie ever made'. You'll love it, trust me, I work for the government.

Anything by Bill Hicks. A super comedian. RIP.

Fire and Ice. Animation from the 80's if memory serves. Best set of animated tits I have ever seen.

What a rancid, steaming turd of a movie this is. Ridley Scott delivers diddly squat in this piece of crap that has more plot holes than a liberal party policy.

If you are truly determined to watch it, download it, don't waste money on it.

I went to see The Way recently, starring Martin Sheen and Emilio Estavez. Wasn't expecting much but as the movie ticket was free I thought why not (session time suited). And actually really enjoyed the movie, it had my attention for the duration of the film, which doesn't always happen.

Sometimes it's the movies that you don't expect much from that surprise and satisfy and those you expect to be something special that disappoint.

Sometimes it's the movies that you don't expect much from that surprise and satisfy and those you expect to be something special that disappoint.

I remember reading no-one was expecting anything from The Godfather. People were saying "who the hell wants to watch a movie about criminals?" and "a movie about the mob, how silly is that!"

I'd say that it delivered more than was expected.

I hope that helped illustrate the point rather than detract from it.

John, I find it's the movies that have less hype about them that generally have more substance and are actually more enjoyable to view.

I've a fan of the Dendy cinemas and have watched a heap of foreign subtitled films that have been absolutely fantastic but would get next to no publicity whatsoever.

Agree as usual with you NC. I miss the Dendy at Opera Quays almost as much I miss the Roosters. As soon as I move home in the summer, I'm going to start going again in the off season. If a film has a big name cast, lots of Oscar nominations and goes for more than 2 hours, there is a good chance I will hate it! I have the attention span of a fruit bat and would rather watch an independent Australian or foreign film than some overblown Hollywood nonsense.

RW&B, the Dendy at Opera Quays is my usual movie haunt as it's close to work and I can toddle off to the movies after work of a Friday night, especially during the offseason or when there is a game I don't want to watch (eg the Vermin are playing). I'm with you in that I generally don't go and see the big budget movies, especially if they are not on at the Dendy. I don't enjoy going to the mainstream cimenas nowdays - yes I will admit I am a movie snob!

But when as a Dendy member I can go see a good film for around $11 and even enjoy a glass of vino if I feel like it why would I go anywhere else?
