I can't see why we would change such a date. Its locked in the consciousness and diaries of so many proud and grateful citizens who all gained their citizenship on this day. Its a very important and emotional time for them. Not to mention all the Aussies accustomed to celebrating it on this day. Respect.

So what you have said is let's set aside the sentiments of the original landowners, as the feelings of the 15,000 individuals gaining citizenship on January 26th per year take precedence.....and changing the date would be inconvenient for many Australians who are accustomed to celebrating Australia Day on the 26th of January.

What 'original landowners'? Theres no one still around from 1788 that I'm aware of. And even if there was the definition of owner would be very tenuous. They were just 'here'. I don't have claim to own land in Ireland simply because of blood lineage. Same deal.

You do know it is possible to hold conversation watch the cricket cook the meat drink water and even post on here all at the same time.
