He didn't train during the offseason during to injury and has missed half of this season. To expect Dally M Medalist form from him is a farce.

Doesn't mean I feel sorry for him (doubt he wants sympathy...etc) but being realistic the NRL demands AMAZING fitness. You can't be out of training for 6 months and expect to be in top fitness/form. It's not as if he's hopeless out there, he's just ordinary (which isn't something generally used to describe Todd Carney.)

Braith had a complete off-season and hasn't missed a game. Carney's still a better 5/8 option than him... we can pretty well write off this season and Carney is largely to blame. What do we have to win... 8 of the next 12 games or so in order to get 28 points? Good luck - we're just playing for pride (or lack thereof) now. Maybe if Carney takes off we can scrape into the 8? We'll need 28 + a positive PD though. Doubtful but I'll welcome it.

I think you'll find it's actually 8 wins from our 11 remaining games...extremely unlikely! We'd need a run like we had last year (6 wins in a row or something?) which is also extremely unlikely given our horrendous injury toll (which many commentators and fans seem to forget when criticizing our performance this year) and our ill-discipline. Besides 2 or 3 games, most of the 11 teams we're going to play are actually quite beatable (a few we have already beaten this season) so maybe not all hope is lost, but maybe that's just my blind faith speaking :P. In my opinion we needed to win that storm game...that wud have been a big step (a small 'turning-point' if you will), but with that loss things look really tough. We'll need a lot of luck in the coming 3 months if we're gonna even have a sniff at the 8, i'm just hoping we don't finish int he bottom 2 or 3 teams But then again getting the spoon again may be the kick up the ass the players, coach and club officials need to turn things around next year... They chose a very bad year to have the slogan of "new attitude, new beginning". Maybe they should re-use for next year?
