The Newtown lads are hard at work preparing for the 2011 season ...
Newtown Jets coach Greg Matterson and his coaching staff have a squad of nearly 30 players training on three afternoons per week and on Saturday mornings. The boys began their tough pre-season program in early November and they'll take a short break over Christmas and New Year before resuming in early January.
There is also another significant group of players who will be eligible for NSW Cup selection in 2011 who are currently in full time training with our NRL partnership club, the mighty Sydney Roosters. Competition for places in the 2011 Newtown Jets NSW Cup squad will be fiercer than ever, but that's the way it has to be if you want premiership success in what is a very high standard and demanding NSW Cup competition.
Greg has two new Assistant Coaching appointees working with him: Darryl Neville (ex-South Sydney and Illawarra), who is highly regarded at Newtown for his superb record with the Jets as a player in the 1990's and as a coach in 2002-03, and Sean Rutgerson (ex-North Sydney, Canberra Raiders, Salford and South Africa) will be contributing their considerable expertise to the Newtown Jets coaching "Think Tank".
Brad Stocks is back on board as the Strength and Conditioning Coach, and he is joined by John Zoller (ex-Sydney Roosters) and Dan Wortley (ex-London Harlequins) as Trainers, as well as Sam Mavrovelis who is the Team Manager for 2011.

I would love it if Newtown came back into first grade, it would be excellent.
