It's his job to have the best players in their proper positions.
It's his job to ensure he adapts to the rule changes in the game.
It's his job to ensure he doesn't single out a future super star halfback as the sole reason the team cant score points especially since last year when they won 8 in a row & were racking up scores with that same player.
It's also his job to ensure the team stops having embarrassing Rd 1 losses which has become a running joke.
Players have 2 days off after games as a minimum so in short turn arounds such as this Friday they may have 1 or 2 sessions at most ( Wednesday and Thursday)
Only so much you can do in game simulation contact sessions - i.e you can't have "opposing" players in such sessions defending with the same vigour as the opposition on game day and all your offense plays may come off as good as gold in such sessions but your offense is only really tested on game day the same as your D.
The coach selects the team they think can win the match and at times players are relegated or promoted and players play in different positions - been happening that way since 1908.
I am sure the coaching staff and players are well aware of the rule changes though and people do tend to over emphasise the impact of such rule changes in games.
Big call to say Walker is a future super star half though as he has a lot to work on in his game and he did admit his form has not been good - sure he is not the only
I remember a similar tag being put on Phil Blake - Blake was certainly targeted in D as a result and ended up being shifted around the backline to basically hide him in D.
Walker is and will continue to be targeted in D and will need to find a way to cope with the extra D workload that doesn't impact on his Offense role.
Not Walkers fault that he hasn't served an apprenticeship as they say in the lower grades and one has to also say the NSW Junior and Senior Pathways are superior to Queensland's in the progressive development of players on a pathway to NRL or NRLW.
He has to take it on the chin and work hard on the areas of his game he needs to work on and add to if he want's to get back in the NRL side simple as that
Last season was last season and irrelevant in a new season.
We will never know if switching Keary and Walker and or the Impact in games of E Butcher and Watson from the bench changed the teams fortunes or it was a purely a matter of the players realising if they don't pull their fingers out and start winning they could miss the finals
Last 8 Regular Season games
Dragons - 54-26
Knights - 42-12
Sea Eagles - 20-10
Broncos - 34-16
Cowboys - 32-18
Tigers - 72- 6
Storm - 18 -14
Rabbitohs - 26 -16
The same problems in offense last season has come back again this season and yes it still continues.
The Walker/Keary combo just wasn't working and neither are conformable playing an organising/controlling half role. Walker was hardly running the ball - almost up to 6 in the pass to run ratio KPI
Manu had to be moved closer to the ball and whether or not he can develop other parts of a 5/8 role is to be seen i.e linking with edge forwards , centre and winger in offense and a kicking game is a WIP. - Purely playing as a running 5/8
14 1st round games with Coach Robinson for 6 wins and 8 losses - 1st Round losses in 2013/2018/2019 before going on to win the comp.
Too much doom and gloom

I think to your point identifying & understanding what motivates the individual is important and showing genuine interest and desire to improve/make them more successful will always increase engagement but I think motivation still comes from within.
For example, Joey Manu wants to be a spine player (motivation from within). Robinson being aware of that means he can assist the player by providing the tools, coaching & opportunity but the motivation will always be on the side of Joey he either wants it or he doesn’t.

Robbo speaking up about this has nothing to do with Latrell being indigenous of course lol… so it’s actually quite offensive on his behalf… because Latrell has zero loyalty to the Roosters and makes that very clear every time he plays us
Robbo doesn’t defend the club like he used to… in his mind the Roosters have become secondary to a lot of other nonsense… that’s all good and fine if the team continues to perform at a high level… they don’t and haven’t for quite some time

Certainly not in the parallel universe where you have come from.
When the Roosters start winning which they will you won't on here thankfully nor your alter ego water boy either
Happy Days are coming
You were comparing spines… I named our current spine… Walker is not in the side
You really don’t make much sense lol

In 1988 they were premiership favourites as well and didn't make the top 5 as it was back then
Since you asked…
Our list is the best in terms of talent and depth
Broncos are developing very well but still very raw… Souths are thereabouts as they are currently showing… Eels a shade under that… Sharks have a lot of good players but no one truly great… Storm very top heavy but the weakest across the board I’ve seen in a long while… Panthers still good but clearly not as without Kikau and Koroisau
We are underperforming… and if you look at what Wayne is doing with his bunch of misfits he is just putting Robbo to shame… even Webster at the Warriors is doing a better job this year

What about in 2018 when his Broncos got beaten in the semi finals at home against St George 48-18 whilst Robbo got his second premiership?
How about when Robbo knocked Bennetts Rabbits out in the major semi final to win 2019??
Bennett hasn't won a premiership since 2010. He left Newcastle a mess and then got booted from the Broncos. As a modern day coach he is more myth than legend. He was hands on in trying to sign Brandon Smith, Kaylyn Ponga, Cam Munster and now Jack Wighton- all ended up signing contracts for less money that they could have earned at the Dolphins.
However hey if you want to get on the media darling Bennett and the Dolphins good start of 6 wins this year then go ahead.....but don't crap on that its putting Robbo to shame

First, yes Robbo has won more premierships in the last 13 years but has Wayne had a team even close to what Robbo has had with the Roosters? I'd say the closest was the 2021 Souths team but even then I'd put our 2018, 2019 and our 2023 squad (On paper) over South Sydney's 2021 squad. 2013 might be comparable to 2021 Souths but I'm not sure.
Second, yes he did miss out on a lot of marquee players including Smith, Ponga, Munster, Wighton and I think a few others were in the Dolphins documentary as well but he also managed to sign grand final winners from successful clubs such as Jesse Bromwich, Kenny Bromwich and Felise Kaufusi, Dolphins will probably slip into the 8 this year and then they have next year to look forward to as Wayne has recruited well managing to get Herbie Farnworth, Thomas Flegler and Josh Kerr to the club. The Dolphins also have enough cap space where they could sign a big named marquee player or get another 2-3 players on the level of Farnworth or Flegler so they very well could go top four in 2024 as long as Wayne continues to recruit well.
Third, Wayne is getting a lot out of some footballers that you would expect to be average. Many people thought that the Dolphins would struggle to win 4-6 games all year and that they'd get pumped most weeks but Wayne is getting a lot out of what he does have which is something most coaches (Including ours) should learn to do.

Let's cut through the BS
coaching is performances based
I'm sure Robbo is aware of this.
if this season is deemed a failure , questions will be asked.
I hope he an turn our season around and there is no reason he can't.
The pressure is building thoughLast edited by Bondicigar; 05-09-2023, 06:37 AM.
