We are losing games strictly because of the ref's whistle. We've got blokes dropping likes flies to the sin bin, and we can't build anything during the game as we relentlessly get penalised. We are constantly playing with one arm tied behind our back.

The opposition is not beating us per se, we are beating ourselves (with the kind assistance of the NRL officialdom)

We wont change the refs, so this is something the coaching staff need to sort out.

I am a massive admirer of Robbo's old school approach to this sort of stuff, but its now at the point where we have no choice but to pander to them or we won't win.
It's a conundrum alright. I feel like Robbo has done a good job balancing ruck control in defense without getting hammered in set restarts.

Yet the chairman's footsoldiers will still pull something out of thin air if they want to. That first penalty conceded against the Storm was a joke.

I fricken love watching us get held down all set, only to take our turn in defense and - BAM! Penalty! Thus marching us back upfield, burning our energies and our ensuing attack of the game suffers trying to break through a team standing offside.

In 2019 we had the defense to be more in control of games, yet as stated, it was before the 6A era.

They are very afraid of the Roosters capabilities, we still managed to lead at half time last week even when we only had 43 percent possession, plus a gazillion penalties against.

So in 2023 it's got to be our attack that sets us free, take the scoreboard away from them, Collins pretty much did against the sharks but it's got to be clear cut points, as the only thing that saves us in 50:50's is the captains challenge.

To which Atkins flat out cheated in the instance that Rads went to the bin after the Hynes knock on and just said no.

I dunno how to better groom the refs but we definitely need to do better in that regard.

Gussie and Sitili? Assuming they're even named for 1st grade, IMO both deserve a comfortable return. If that involves going at it full pelt then power to them. However, we need a full team performance this week if we wanna beat the Steelers.
I can't help but expect more of the same on Anzac Day, if the chooks want to go anywhere near winning, it'll be the game of their lives.
