  • Yet another high shot on Teddy

If the NRL are fair dinkum Simonsson will have a very long stint on the sidelines. He should have stayed off the park for the rest of the game. My namesake correctly pointed out to the ref that if it was he who had taken the opposition's best player out, he'd have been sent off.

Seems to happen a bit when we play Parra.

They have to be taught not to go in shoulder first anywhere near the head of an attacking player.
It has to come from the coaches.
The only way to do that seems to be hefty suspensions.
It will hurt every team in the short term, but benefit the entire game in the long term.
Also defenders need to be taught how to protect themselves when tackling near the thighs and hips.
Accidents will always happen, and fatigue will come into it, but there must be a way to improve the safety of both attackers and defenders.

Late, high, forceful head contact and knocked Teddy out.

Why exactly was this not the easiest send off decision ever?

It was Teddy being maimed by the same side 2 years ago that led to Robbo going ballistic and the subsequent "crackdown" - that saw us targeted rather than anyone else.

2 years later we have this pathetic officiating.

It was the most blatant send off ever. Instead it was just another chapter in the NRLs gross negligence on the crackdown of head high tackles.

The Dragons player on Teddy ANZAC Day. Latrell on Manu. The other Parra game. Souffs deliberately headhunting us in the finals. And now this. No doubt I've forgotten some incidents.

All of these episodes of shocking foul play. Zero send offs.

There's a clear precedent. The NRL have given teams free license to hunt our star players with deliberate high shots.

The head knocks are no good. Same thing happened to the previous captain Boyd and we know where that ended!

              It was a bad shot
Teddy doesn't make anything easy though with his crouched down running style...

Yet is he not allowed to do this? Opposition fans lay the blame at his feet for it, but what about a short A like Adam Reynolds?

Should he not be allowed to play footy like being denied a ride at an amusement park?

Some people wanted Radley out of the game because of his "tackling style" defenders have to adjust, simmonsen didn't and should have been sent.

Yes but it’s not his go, it wasn’t intentional and he’s not a dirty player. Apparently that’s all that’s needed to justify a 10 minute sin bin at best.

I found it disturbing that we lost our Captain for the rest of the match and the next and the offender only had to sit down for 10 minutes. What about a rule where if you force a player to fail a HIA due to foul play, the offender is sent off once it has been announced? Also that player serves an automatic 2 week suspension thus missing the same amount of time as the concussed player.

I agree with this. which means it could be wrong...... but I think it's right.

I certainly think they need to come up with something better than what they are doing now.

Couldn't agree more. Why is there even any conjecture as to whether sin bin was enough or not? FFS it was a shoulder charge that hit Teddy in the head and knocked him out. Robbo alluded to the conditions in the rule that the defender didn't leave the ground, which I assume must mean it wasn't in the worst category. Both Robbo and Keary were respectful about Simonson in the press conference, saying there was no malice etc etc. If I was a reporter there I would have asked them "Why does that even matter?" He knocked him out with a shoulder charge. That's a send off now.

They’ll implement such a rule change when it’s one of our players that causes an opposition player to miss 80% of a big game.

And that wasn't t the case last night , Teddy is often criticised for that running style especially from opposition fans and i can see their point to a certain extent but last nights incident had nothing to do with Teddys crouched running style..
