  • How wrong was Joey Johns

banging on saying Collins stripped the ball when Mitchell just dropped it tying to milk a penalty? Trying to get the other commentators to agree with him. Don't think anyone did.

Joey is still affected by the drugs. Great footballer but an absolute air head. You can just tell he never wants to be there. Even his brother admitted this.

I wish these guys in general would just call the game and not try and force their opinions - which are many times wrong - as fact! If there's something huge, ok. but they are part of the problem!

Could have gone either way as I have seen similar ones penalised

He made a silly comment about the fans in the Chookpen being 'well hydrated'...so were they all three sheets to the wind? Children included..? He kept talking about Joey's face being damaged by 'training' and got shirty when someone else said 'Oh you mean the issue with Latrell?" He said, no the training injury..that one happened last year...like it was never going to have any psychological damage to Joey at all..jerk..

NRL said at the beginning of the year that more emphasis was placed on the ball player to maintain control.
It was mentioned in round one but the commentators just forget this stuff, it’s their only job for f#cks sake.

Commentators should just call the play, not be biased and give personal opinions. Unfortunately in RL they do and can be so biased….

He and Tallis have made a rod for their backs with their anti rooster sentiments.

                    They double down so foolishly

I've been saying this for years. If there was a channel or radio station that offered such a commentary, they'd make a fortune. Most of us just want a clear, factual account of what's happening on field. The late Frank Hyde said he gave clear descriptions when he called the game for radio because he noted that some of his listeners may be vision impaired, so would not be viewing the footage later on the news. A true genuine broadcaster who respected his audience as they were his customers. Not like nowadays, when its all egos, shouting, cheap shots and loud mouths..like I mentioned the other day, you had to go study at somewhere like Bathurst to get into the media years ago.

George Constanza was right..it's not fair that all those jobs go to ex-ball players..

What I wouldn't give to go back to the days of Frank Hyde. The new commentators add nothing to my enjoyment of the game.
I hate it when they carry on like teenage girls at a One direction concert about every half break.
I now turn the volume down when the opposition has the ball, sometimes even when we have it, and replay some things later with commentary.
Fox used tonhave an option back in the 90's where you could get the broadcast with no commentary but you could hear the ref and the players and the crowd
but they stopped it, because of the obscenities I think
what a shame...... it was awesome.

I just don't enjoy radio at all anymore and stopped listening back in 2009 because of all our off-field incidents. My ipod charger packed it in a few weeks back and whilst I was waiting for a replacement, I'd gone for a walk listening to the radio on my old phone and during the one hour walk, I heard maybe half a dozen songs and all the rest was just jibber jabber and ads and depressing news.

The only thing I know about One Direction is that they were performing at Homebush the same day as our 2013 grand final. I think there was a boat show on there too in the same precinct..great day though despite the heat and still my favourite grand final win..

Cheers to the 2013 10 year anniversary.. can't wait to see what celebrations will be in order..and I'm not even talking about that One Direction concert.....

Nice new avatar too NFS..My one and only car back in the day was a similar shade of blue.

What does Thurston offer? he stands there like a dope and does his stupid laugh more than he talks. They really are trying to force these guys into being something they are not.

Thanks. It's just a closer pic of my previous avatar. I bought that car back in 2002, for my 50th birthday.
Got the ROOSDA numberplate at the same time.
                              It's a 1999 BMW M3 anniversary edition.
                              6 speed manual, 3.2 litre 6.
Only 70 brought into the counrtry , all numbered with a silver plaque.
So I've had it for 21 years now.
I drove it from Brisbane to Sydney a few times in 2002, including the GF.
                              Still drives like a dream.
