  • Suaalii can accept fine and play

Following the Sydney Roosters Round 2 match against the New Zealand Warriors, Joseph-Aukuso Suaalii has been cited by the NRL Match Review Committee.

Suaalii was issued with a Grade One Dangerous Contact charge.

Should the Club elect to enter an early guilty plea, the 19-year-old will receive a monetary fine of $3000.

If found guilty at the judiciary panel, however, Suaalii will be unavailable for a two matches.

Sydney Roosters has until Monday at 12pm to enter their plea.

Good news and will be interesting to see him go up against a quality centre in Campbell Graham.

Glad he can’t do a Matterson and keep the fine

Very very lucky. I love the kid but was disappointed to see that late shot. If it happened to one of our boys I would've wanted the player to miss a game

Fair, as I said in the game day thread I don't think he realised he had passed the ball.

Happy he can play of course, but what a ridiculous decision. Just watched it again, clearly late and dangerous, and if a Souths player was allowed to get away with that and play next week, we'd be ropeable.

If Suaalii was out we had the position covered with the Mercurial Hutchinator

I think he knew what he was doing & it was very dumb.

                            He got a lucky break.

Agreed. I thought that real-time it looked intentional and completely unnecessary. However the replays gave me the impression he couldn't see the ball and fell for some crafty slight of hand (which doesn't fool spectators watching full-speed from a wide angle as they know the ball's gone out and then ~3 seconds later see the guy gets taken out from behind).

No harm done. Good that he can just pay the fine and move on...
