  • ROOSTER FACING SWITCH TO SIXTH CLUB - Momirovski

Premiership-winning centre Paul Momirovski has already played for five NRL clubs – Rabbitohs, Panthers, Wests Tigers, Storm and Sydney Roosters.

He may soon be looking for his sixth. The 26-year-old centre has dropped down the pecking order at the Roosters following two key signings in recent weeks – Dominic Young from the Knights and the re-signing of Joseph Suaalii.

Momirovski is unavailable for selection after suffering a heavy knock and concussion at pre-season training.

It is understood Roosters coach Trent Robinson has given him permission to negotiate with rival clubs despite having two years left on his contract.

The Roosters already have an overload of outside backs following the off-season signings of Corey Allan and Jaxson Paulo.

Last year Paul didn’t live up to what was expected. Many chances but hard decisions have to be made.

I think the horrendous injury toll we have had over the last few years have made it even harder for players in the team to look good. In a full strength team, a player like Momo can just do his job and also rely on those great players around him. So much chopping and changing and trying to cover for other players must make it so much harder…

When did he play for Souffs? I thought he'd played for...

        - Easts (juniors + NRL)

        - Tigpies

        - Melbourne (on loan, with Tigpies getting Harry Grant)

        - Pemriff

So really it's just 3 clubs with a loan in the middle there. 'Journos' trying to make it sound as though he switches clubs every year. Also 3 of those clubs are Easts, Melbourne and Penrith (part of two premiership winning squads + the great 2016 Easts premiership squad that produced lotsa up and coming legends).

Think it was Kotoni Staggs that numbered Momo's card !

Really? Allan and Paulo fringe at best. Toia and Billy Smith injured. Pauga unknown quantity. We have three quality backs - Tupes, Joey and Joe - hardly an overload.

His time with us has been disappointing. Must have some off field issues.... but he has a very good looking girlfriend, which can be a distraction. We need Brown more than Momi at the moment.

Agree, but I also think having two samll halves, we need more size across the park. Having him next to Sam or Luke we just looked too small out wide even with a backrower out there. (our backrowers aren't huge either) Found it too hard to contain teams and dominate defence.
Strange he was resigned base don Robos comments that he like sbig outside backs.

good point and there's also less pressure on players who aren't top notch stars when they're on less money so they play freely but when they get a raise, like i believe he did with us, they don't always deliver

Momirovski is and will forever be a journeyman player I think, nothing wrong with it but he's always going to be a player that can fill a spot for a year or two and then move on. I think he'll leave us well before his contract is meant to end and will go to another top 4 side that might need depth.

A shame regarding how this latest stint has gone for Momo.

Will always remember his crucial try in the 2018 preliminary final against souffs. Hope he has a form spike in the not too distant future.

Momo was truly dreadful last season, especially in that game against the Broncos where Staggs absolutely schooled him. It says a lot that I'd prefer to see Drew Hutch playing there over him. Looks a player completely down on confidence. Perhaps we should loan him out to an ESL team or lower NRL club and see if he can capture some sort of form and we can use him as solid depth option in 2024 because there is a decent player in there somewhere. Better to do that then just release him with 2 years left. Would be on peanuts aswell so could get the loan club to pay for a bit of his salary.
