  • Egan Butcher possible fine only.

Following the Sydney Roosters Round 1 match against the Dolphins, second-rower Egan Butcher has been cited by the NRL Match Review Committee.

Butcher was issued with a Grade One Dangerous Contact charge as a result of an incident that occurred while he was making a tackle in the 62nd minute of the game.

Should the Club elect to enter an early guilty plea, Butcher will receive a monetary fine of $1800.

If found guilty at the judiciary panel, however, Butcher must pay a $2500 fine.

Sydney Roosters has until 12pm Tuesday to enter their plea.

Maybe he’ll do a Matterson and cop the suspension.

Was Rapana cited by the MRC?
1985: 1 try vs Parramatta, 1 try vs Manly, 1 try vs Wests, 2 tries vs Souffs
1986: 2 tries vs Illawarra, 1 try vs Balmain, 2 tries vs Norths.

Yep. 3 weeks with an early plea, 4 if not, I believe.

Egan deserves a few weeks on the sideline after yesterdays performance.

Was the softest showing in a Roosters forward pack since running out with a lineup including
          Shane Shackleton
          Riley Brown
          Stanley Waqa
          Nick Kouparitsas
          Setaimata Sa

Thanks for clarifying. The dog should have been sent off.

i blame the nrl on that. matto had just lost a gf and made a dumb decision, then wanted to change it but the nrl wouldn't let him for some dumb reason

Lucky guy, wasn't a good tackle.

Wallace's reputation to over react may have saved him, cant imagine what else would have.

                    Wasn't Setaimata Sa a centre?

Much like everyone else in the team at the time Freddy switched him between Centre, Second Row, Lock, 5/8 and Half

did the same with Tommy Symmonds, Anasta, Ben Jones, Jordan Tansey, Aubbo, Kouparitsas etc

Egan should never have been binned.
There was nothing wrong with his tackle...players in other teams make the same tackle every week with no problem.
It was a gentle tackle around the lower legs.
Why was Egan sent 'off'? is a valid question.
Off course if refs called held sooner there wouldn't be all the pushing, shoving, wrestling around.

I didn't think he wanted to change it? Thought he made it clear that he was going through some financial stress and couldn't afford the fine.

TBH makes sense. One issue with playing guys on lower salaries (which isn't Matto? Think he's on decent enough coin) is that $1800 is a lot of cash to stump up.

And yet blatantly taking out Sua'ali'i as he's reaching out to try and score a try isn't even a penalty because he scored anyway outta sheer talent/athleticism.

Didn't cost us the game but the refs were cooked.
