As a player I always assumed he was a tool because his club cheated the cap, he always seemed to control refs and he NEVER lost (which s*cked as a NSW/Easts fan).

However, now that he's no longer playing I think I'm starting to come to terms with the fact these biases were all bullshyte and he's probably the smartest footy player we've ever seen.

With Cronk I went through a similar process of first saying 'naaah he's a boring player who's just lucky to play in stacked teams'. However when he joined our club and won us premierships, I had a slightly different angle on that theory :P

Love listening to Cam as an analyst of the game now. Can probably forgive myself for hating on him as a player coz end of the day I'm an Easts fan, so it isn't part of me to love the Drizz's players. However, I'm sure there's gonna be moments now where I re-watch previous games with significantly more appreciation for the quantity & quality of his work on the field.

Couldn't stand him when he played. Didn't think he played in the spirit of the game and he and his club pushed the boundaries. Don't care now that he is retired.... But no doubt he is the best hooker I've seen, and arguably the best hooker of all time.
