Oldfield is a very good winger, I would be happy with him. Faifai Loa the Cowboys winger is another good player but hasn't been sighted all year.

A big yes to Fish. I watched him closely on Saturday to be honest he looked out of position a few times in defence. You can learn that stuff though, in attack well we all saw that try he is classy. That's the difference between a player with speed and Mini, Mini knows how to get into the position but it's only ever a half break. With a kid like this it's shut the gate.

I reckon he looked off the pace cos he's been playing sub standard footy in that NSW cup thingy mate. Only more experienced players can change between the two levels weekly and adjust quickly.

Many on here keep demanding some of those blokes, who've played little to no NRL footy, be promoted on a whim. The fact is Most of them would look worse than those they are replacing cos they're not used to the consistent pace of 1st grade. It would take most of them weeks if not months to adjust if they ever do. It would take 5 mins for the same posters calling for their inclusion to be calling for them to be dropped and bagging the coach for promoting them in the 1st place.

I keep saying it but our structures of the 3 grades are all wrong.

          The FlogPen .

          You know it makes sense.

Oldfield is very dodgy in defence. I'm having cold sweats just thinking about the points he would leak defending next to SKD.

As opposed to Perrett who is just as clueless. If you don't believe me go back and have a look at Saturday nights game. On one of the few attacking raids by the Warriors both Perrett and SKD instead of attacking the player with the ball they were caught out going backwards, which they do a lot (and then don't have the pace to recover).

Perrett and SKD are two of the more clueless defenders in the NRL, SKD for a big guy is scared to use his shoulders and neither of them appear able to read the play and defend accordingly. At least SKD makes up for it by scoring a stack of tries, as for Perrett meh.

Even with his so called suspect defence, Oldfield has something that Pez doesn't. Speed, which is what you want in a winger.

Mind you John we already have a big, strong very fast winger in Peni Tagive, but Smith won't give him a chance. He would rather go with two of the slowest, worst finishing wingers in the competition.

                  2. Tagive
                  3. Moga
                  4. SKD
                  5. Oldfield

Not only would we have speed (and lots of it), but we would also have a lot of size as well.

                    Michael Oldfield
                    1.87 m (6 ft 2 in)

                    Peni Tagive
                    192 cm (6 ft 4 in)

                    Both big, both fast.

                    Justin Carney
                    178 cm (5 ft 10 in)

                    Sam Perrett
                    1.82 m (5 ft 11 1⁄2 in)

                    Shorter and much slower.

Smith won't pick the best winger we have...you know my response to any talk of Brian Smith.

[QUOTE=theGman;193165]Would welcome MOldfield with open arms but as an accomplished winger.

The flying Fish from the Warriors who scored a Slater-esque try on the weekend is definetely on our radar as a replacement fullback! But will the Warriors release him from his contract? They have a plethora of good young talent coming through and they can't keep 'em all QUOTE]

The Mole from the The Game Plan must be trolling this site for his info
