Unfortunately our glorious B2B achievement has been matched by the mob out west. Given they've been giving it the big ones over the past couple of days calling themselves the best Penriff team ever and some are calling their achievement better than us. Now we can debate the ins and outs of that by looking at season stats, points scored, total competition points, etc. I don't want to debate that aspect of it. I got thinking though, would these Pamfah's boys have been able to beat our 18-19 team and would any of them have made it in. Hence this thread.
The criteria:
Pick a combined 17 made up of players solely who featured in the grand final squads from either 2018, 2019 for us and 2021 and 2022 for them. You can only pick players on the bench who were actually on the interchange bench in any of those grand finals. You cannot for instance stack the bench with spine players and superstars who missed the cut in the starting side. The player doesn't need to feature in both wins, only 1 qualifies (e.g. Fergo, Capewell).
My team:
1. Teddy
2. Tupou
3. Latrell
4. Manu
5. B-Moz
6. Keary
7. Cronk
8. JWH
9. Friend
10. Fisher-Harris
11. Cordner
12. Kikau
13. Yeo
14. Korosau
15. SST
16. Angus
17. Matto
I've tried to be as unbiased as possible. I don't think you could argue with many and I'm hoping it will shut the debate up a bit. Clearly we had the better side man for man. Keep in mind we are judging them against the time they played in - e.g. Keary 19 vs Luai 22 not Keary 22 vs Luai 22 or Cleary 19 vs Cronk 19.
Interested to get everyone's thoughts.
