I was talking about this yr champ....everyone knows 2021 was injury cursed for us. This yr we had no such excuses with injures...unlike the storm who were injury plagued yet finished above us.
”No excuses with injuries”. Sure. We’re not a club who will makes excuses in regards to injuries. But to say we didn’t have them, is nonsense. You’re telling me that it would have been the same result against Souths if Manu, Collins + Tedesco, Toups and Crichton weren’t all either out or taken out during that first half? Completely different ball game and a completely different result.

Probably, they had us beaten mentally and Robbo catered to Latrell all that week too, and forgot about his own team.

Hope they play smarter footy next year.

I hope the team realises that.
We mighta. However I reckon we were just as likely to have beaten the Riff by 30+ and then been edged out by the Eels in a GF.

Too inconsistent... got what we deserved IMO.

Nothing wrong with being a passionate one eyed fan but Penrith would have won no matter who they played last night.
Parramatta beat Penrith twice this year but couldn't match them when it mattered.

Yeah we may have been a chance to be there last night if we won all those games against teams that were fighting for the spoon but Penrith are a mile ahead of us and everyone else.
Too many this season was a failure but there are many clubs who would love to achieve what we have done since Robbo arrived by be in the finals year after year.
I remember before he arrived making the 8 was a successful year with so many seasons being all so runs or wooden spooners.

I've got a feeling that the game managers would not have let us win.
But there's no doubt that a full strength Roosters would have come a lot closer than Parra.

                I think so.

Parramatta placed no pressure on Cleary.
Also, they didn't push back their team mate with the ball when Penrith did their usual push back in defence to gain an extra 5 metres. Souffs did in the first half last week. I don't know why Parra didn't.

Also, Penrith keep dragging the player back even after being called held by the ref. Is this legal? Shouldn't they be penalised or at the very least let the player walk forward a couple of metres to their original mark? Penrith have been doing this for the last 3 years.

We left our run too late. Losing games at the start of the season put too much pressure on us and we needed to win the last 8 straight just to make the 8. This meant too much hard finals style footy at the end making us more susceptible to injury. This is what ultimately killed us as we only ended up in sixth spot after all that exerted effort at the end with too many injured and battered bodies. It was not sustainable. You need to finish in the top 4 mostly injury free.

You could tell parra were gassed after the first 20.

Having that week off is so so vital.

Definitely. I don't know why they have been getting away with it. There's also been a lot of flops - or 'leans' as they do now - by a second or third man after the player is tackled by a lot of teams.

Could we have maintained that level of intensity in attack and defence for a whole game? Do we have the ability to attack from all around the park like they do? Their points differential was over 100 points better than ours at the end of the season, and the won five more games. We did great to finish where we did, but to even get to the GF would've been an enormous effort. Penrith had lots of time off, with players rested in the last round and a week off during the semis, we would've been up against it. I've seen enough of us losing Grand Finals to watch another one!...and they knocked the evil empire out in the Prelim Final, so good on them!

However, the context of this thread is our 2022 performance only, not 1945's...champ.

That's because they gave 100% the whole season unlike us who only went max in the final third. Hence they were able to rest their key players in r25 whilst ours were getting bashed. Also their bye in finals aided avoiding injuries. Collins was suspended, not injured..

Wow....who said we didn't have them? Even mentioned we lost Sitilli, Toops & Manu in my 1st posting in here...

My point is a simple one...we were rubbish in the first 10 rd's or more...and that's when we were relatively free of injures. Hence there were other factors that resulted in us missing the GF.

Injuries came when 6th place was locked in as our highest finish. We were never gonna win the comp from there injures or not...even if we beat souffs. It ain't Rocket Science...
