But don't be surprised to see the attack suffer with Verrills gone.
Sam was fast out of dummy half, and exploited the quick play the ball
It might take Robinson more than half a season to get the attack ironed out.
You can’t be serious. Smith runs from dummy half at least twice as much as Verrills. Verrils averaged 39.9m per game last year. Smith averaged 96m in 2021 when he was still playing predominantly hooker.

Think you're right Mac....Verrils was terrific in those last couple of months when we surged, don't think Cheese provides same from dummy half.

Robbo is not keen on dummy halves running or kicking one has to say.

He wants the ball players/organisers to have as many tackles as possible to do their thing with the ball.

i.e opposition kick on the last to Tedesco - one tackle - one of the wingers or both have a hit up that's 2 or 3 tackles used before the other players get back on side and if the dummy half has a run that's 3 or 4 tackles used leaving only 1 or 2 tackles for the ball players/organisers to do something with the ball before kicking on the last tackle.

I thought when Hutch was playing dummy half and kicking that this is a change as it's the easiest place to kick from as you have more time from that position to kick than your other kickers have.

Verrills had one kick all season for 7 kicking metres- Hutch when playing hooker and kicking averaged 87 kicking metres per game the limited times he kicked.

Hutch has far and away a longer kicking distance range than Walker and Keary both have. Smith in 2021 averaged 21 kicking metres per game

Souffs love dummy-half runs. When they were down against the Riff, Cook was pretty much the only one running the ball. It was somewhat pleasing seeing him constantly cry 'WOOHOO I AM THE HERO NOW!!! LOOK AT THIS RUN!!!' only to be chopped in half, leaving Souffs looking stunned and without a proper dummy-half for their last tackle (with 'Trell-Mit hiding from the ball for ~60 mins).

Smiddy has the fastest play the ball in the game and is an absolute pest. I suspect his role's gonna involve giving Walker a lot of fast, quality ball. However, my hope is that we see lotsa heads up footy from him and Walker.

Could be a very interesting start to next season. With a reported season start of March 2, a huge chunk of players will have only had 4-5 weeks to train. Could be a lot of injuries (surely our luck changes here FFS) and some surprise early results. Good chance for clubs with not many rep players to try and spring some early upsets

Old blue shirt should look at the stats of known running dummy halves such as Grant and Cook for instance compared to Verrills average running metres - Kicking as well as Verrills had 1 kick for 7 kicking metres in 2022

Grant averaged 93 running metres and 70 kicking metres per game in 2022- Grant is the prototype dummy half.

Jake Friend was under utilised as a dummy half as he had a running and kicking game but ended up being used as a tackling machine which one can say shortened his career somewhat.

Not much rest for the body at all for a lot of players & very little pre season with their team mates.

We desperately can't afford to start of slow next year.
