  • Smith's comments last night on referees

    From the media conference:

Journalist: Do you think in this game - not particularly your team - that the referees are tending to watch one team, who they expect to win, and they sort of get the rub of the green?

Smith: (Laughs) I reckon Braith's pretty toey about that question!

Anasta: I love the question! I don't even need to answer it!

Smith: Well, I'll just say that I worry about what they're actually doing. I reckon, if you actually got the Eagle Cam, and you watched one of the referees tonight, I reckon when he's pocket referee, he could not give a toss about what's going on. He's just waiting... it's a bit like some players... defence is that time they spend while they're waiting to get the ball back. That's all he was worried about - getting back to being the main man at 10 metres.

(Smith also made a comment about the lopsided penalty count. He seemed to imply that it was very unusual for the team that was clearly dominant in the ruck to be on the wrong end of the penalty count.)

its a nice dig at Tony Archer, wouldn't surprise if he cops a please explain from the NRL over that one.

I loved his 'Powderpuff' quote about JWH's tackle that was on report & how the bloke took a dive.

Yes this was garbage, we were far more disciplined at the ruck yet got caned, so frustrating.

Yes, for a team to have no less than 60% of possession consistently throughout the game to end up on the wrong end of the penalty count is very unusual.

We got penalised for lying down on the player late in the match after a dominant tackle Only for Maloney to kick the gorund when trying to find touch from the penalty. In what was the worst kick for touch I have seen since Mitchell Pearce did something similar

However my personal favourite for the night came in the 20s When a Warriors payer got up and started punching one of our players then 7 warriors came running in to join in then Kane Evans came running in to help out and did some real damage He is one person you do not want to get on the wrong side of. What ensued when it was all over was Kane Evans being called out at 1st then the warriors 2nd with the warriors recieveing the penalty

Finally whoever NO14 is from our team should never wear our colours again Whilst 7 players ran in he was standing right near it all remonstating with the ref saying ref ref look look instaed of running in to help his mate A pussy cat of the highest order who should never wear our colours again
