At least Burgess’s season is over. Milne is lucky. The inconsistency shits me to tears. The Panthers bloke that escape a bin and a ban (Leniu?) did a tackle arguably as bad as May’s.

Rads missed one-third of last season for three incidents combined that were not as bad as that Burgess swinging arm.

How to fix next year ..Robbo's seasonal approach is now tiresome start slow wind them up later..it is not working in the 6 again ERA...playing busted blokes is fruitless ..that when you can start losing players.
When Cleary was asked last year what was the difference on winning the comp last year . He said basically he copied the roosters..thats fine why wouldn't you.
but now take a leaf out of Clearys book...go for the throat from round 1 accumulate points that will cover SOO period and any injuries later in the year ..Give the blokes a break .
Move Keary on ..he is done does not like to hit back up ball players at all now or even run it much ..its his mindset with Head Knocks....
Need another top center with pace either sign Herbie Farnsworth or get Xerri at a budget cost and hope for the best.
Start looking to replace Toupo he is almost done I give him one more year . we need more speed for sure in this 6 again crap and Xerri if he can still run and play would flourish in it.

This, we need a leader that can manage the game, the ref and our own stupidity.

After Teddy went off Keary was meant to be captain but it was always JWH talking to the ref, which isn't ideal

I thought Keary was poor yesterday. Was his day to lead and he didn't.

            That will mean

JWH will miss the first 3 rounds of NRL next year if he takes the early plea and Collins the first 2 as he has served only 2 games of his 4 game suspension.

The NRL no longer allows clubs to count pre-season trials or the Auckland Nines as part of a player’s suspension except for Latrell Mitchell that is - All Star game was counted towards his suspension

            https://www.zerotackle.com/nrl-make-...ension-113962/

Both JWH and Collins can serve the suspensions during the RLWC if selected but I can't see them doing that

If the need for speed is required Dominic Young is the player to sign - get him to Bondi Junction in 2024.

I suppose there would be two schools of thought one supporting the measured start and build as the season goes on citing previous premiership wins under this method or those supporting the fast start and the accumulation of points early with less to do in the back end of the season.

              Both have their merits

I don't thinking moving players on is the answer unless you have an equivalent player to replace them - the salary cap is quite tight so external options would not feasible.

One thing the Roosters need to work on is consistency over 80 minutes week in week out - fast starts are all well and good but you still need to maintain a consistent level of footy for the rest of the game.

The Roosters have those dip periods in games where the basics suffer as a result - decrease in set completions/ increase in errors and missed tackles and ill discipline.

I am not a fan of their defensive style when defending against teams moving the ball across their backline - the watch and wait drift/retreat passive style is asking for trouble as is players rushing out of the line one out or coming in when they need to stay out.

Penrith's d line speed and in your face defence is relentless and well very effective - not sure if the Roosters could copy this or sustain this over 80 minutes. - You need to take the time and space away from the offensive team not let them move the footy at will and hope you can defend against it

Interesting that you said that Cleary copied the Roosters in being the difference in winning the comp last year.

Maybe the Roosters need to copy Penrith as they play a consistent 80 minute game week in week out and have been doing so the past 3 seasons

You don't have to be at your best week in week as that would be impossible to maintain but you need to have a consistent game level over 80 minutes if you really want to compete in this comp.

Lots to work on in the pre-season one has to say

Bench Radley all season - the guy is a loose cannon that’s become a non team player.

we will challenge again next year but where do we need improve so we go all the way ?

For me its being able to play for 80mins more consistently

                  Love to hear your thoughts
Hard to play consistently when your biggest star and captain gets ironed out in a head high tackle early in the first half and never returns.

How do we improve so we go all the way?

                  1. Be ready to play our best footy every game, starting in round 1, not round 21.
Ditch permanently the "premierships are not won in March" mindset.
Premierships are won in March, every win then gets us into top 4, where we need to be at season's end.
                  2. Win every home game, because it sure is difficult to win away games.
                  3. Only take to Gosford a game we have a very good chance of winning. Certainly not Souths or Knights.
                  4. Play Suaalii only on the right wing, and teach him how to own it and stay on it ALL the time in defence.
                  5. Bulk up Walker in the off season.
                  6. Bulk up Suaalii in the off season, and get them doing sprint training, they need to get faster...ditto Momirovski.
Our players need to be the fittest in the comp.
                  7. Catching bombs training for every player...so too grubber kick fielding.
                  8. Train all players to, if they're hit illegally, to stay down to force the bunker and ref to review what happened, and the world to see.
Every penalty we can get that we deserve is vital.
This "Roosters way" of jumping straight up after you've been hit illegally is totally ridiculous.
                  9. Time to start playing Tapuha.
                  10. Make other teams scared of us. Make them understand the new rules...that we've canned all the "peace, love, harmony, and hugging, sitting under triangles and humming" nonsense...and we've turned nasty.
Flatten our players in head high tackles etc in future...and bad things will happen to you...you'll get back whatever you dish out, with interest!

What we need is exactly what we've needed the last 3 years.
A full squad throughout the semis.
We could have gone five-peat had we had no injuries.

Many might disagree but whilst Sam Walker is in the team I don't expect much past semi stage.
                      Too much uncertainty under pressure.
Might improve over time but won't be over the next couple of years.
We also don't have a goal kicker.

I'm one of the many.. Walker is panels in front of Cleary at the same age. Cleary, was catch, pass and kick. He had nothing else. Walker will be a star and will continue to improve for many years to come

Some luck with injuries would be welcome.

And some even handed officiating always helps… but we all know that’s never going to happen.

Still I imagine you’re talking about the playing group…

Suallii needs to move closer to the ball… so put him alongside Manu in the centres and find a good winger!

In terms of who we already have… don’t wish to be too critical because he’s an effort player and I appreciate that but Hutchinson has seen way too much of the field this season… whether at dummy half or 6 or bizarrely in the centres. I appreciate Trent has a thing about him but honestly a below average option that we surely can and must improve upon.

When Hutch is in our 17 for most of the year you know we are farked with injuries. Like you say, he has his place on minimum wage being able to fill in occasionally...and certainly not in the centres

True… my only concern with that is that Trent is so enamoured with him that he will find a spot for him in the 17 even if that means putting him on the wing lol

Personally I really don’t see the attraction
