Judiciary Report: Waerea-Hargreaves, Butcher, Smalley charged
Roosters enforced Jared Waerea-Hargreaves was one of three players charged by the Match Review Committee following his side's 20-10 win over the Sea Eagles on Thursday night.
Hargreaves was charged with a Grade One Dangerous Contact offence on Manly youngster Zac Fulton in the 62nd minute of the game, which will attract a $3,000 fine with an early guilty plea. As it is his third and subsequent offence this year, he will face a two-match ban if he unsuccessfully contests the charge at the judiciary.
Teammate Egan Butcher was also charged with a Grade Two High Tackle - Careless offence in the final minute of the game and will miss one week with an early plea.
Manly debutant Alfred Smalley was cited for the same offence following his tackle on Sam Verrills in the opening five minutes of the game, and he too will miss one week with an early guilty plea.

Egan was injured and may not have played next week anyway, but I thought the initial contact was on the arm of the other tackler and then slipped up. It was not as bad as Smalley's hit on Verrills.

JWH did what has been going on in rugby league since its inception.
The forearm to the head while you opponent is on the ground, or the palm in the head when your opposition is on the ground, is commonplace.
Heck, I even copped that treatment when I played schoolboy footy years ago.
But the fact that it was such a prolonged cheap shot (5 seconds at least) , the ref picked it up and blew the penalty.
JWH should know better, he knows he won't get away with that.
As for Egan Butcher's shot, I loved it.
It shows the guy has a bit of needle, some mongrel in him.
You don't win premierships by being a wallflower.

it's a bad look, and reflects poorly on him. He should be ashamed.
If we're happy with that then we can never complain about foul play on any of our players again.

He should also be ashamed.

You get guys like Dylan Brown putting the knees in , and putting players in hospital, Kafusi purposely concussing players for months on end, and Latrell Mitchell breaking people's faces.
Yet the whole Chookpen forum goes into uproar when our players show some niggle in games.
It is going to cost us the season !!!!
Robbo should instruct our players to roll out the red carpet to our opposition, all the away to our tryline.
Some people need to get a life..
