Yep -I now realise we simply can't "win" with some of the fans on here...even when we do.

While that was clever, it wasn't very wise.

any news on moga? read on another thread that he is part of the 21 man squad that flew down to melbourne, but on nrl.com it says he's got "no chance" of being a late inclusions?

        http://www.nrl.com/roosters-plan-to-...4/default.aspx

The Sydney Roosters are planning on ending Melbourne's unbeaten start to the NRL season by adopting the same tactics that helped them thrash the Storm in round 26 last season.

Melbourne captain Cameron Smith said he expected the Roosters, who have two wins from three games, to come down to Melbourne for Sunday's game with an aggressive attitude, intent on trying to "bash us out of the game".

And his fears were confirmed by a confident Mitchell Pearce, who said the Roosters wouldn't deviate from the game plan which was so effective last year.

In that game, the Roosters took on a Melbourne side who had rested Smith and fullback Billy Slater, but simply muscled them out of the game on their way to a 40-8 thrashing of the minor premiers.

"I think that night even if (Smith and Slater) were playing, I think we would've won," Pearce said on Thursday.

"We physically dominated them in the forwards. That's something we'll be looking to do again."

And Pearce said the Roosters would be using their young, tough forward pack to their advantage as a means of keeping the Storm's star trio of Smith, Slater and Cooper Cronk quiet.

"Last week (against the Raiders) and especially through the trials our forwards have been really dominant and stood over the other teams," he said.

"I think again last week against a forward pack that had a few rep players, in Tom Learoyd-Lahrs and Dave Shillington, I think our forwards really took it to them.

"That's something I think we can do again this week.

"The more we dominate that part of the game gives Slater and Cameron Smith less chance to get into the game.

"... I think we've got a great forward pack. We've got one of the youngest forward packs in the comp but I reckon one of the toughest forward packs.

"We want to win that battle."

Pearce admitted his side were lucky to escape with a 14-8 victory over the Raiders last round despite making a staggering 23 errors - and conceded they wouldn't get the same sort of leniency against the methodical Melbourne.

"It will be pretty tough to win against the Storm if we make those sort of errors," he said.

"We got out of jail a bit on the weekend through our defence.

"... I think we completed 50 per cent of the ball. That's probably not acceptable for a first grade game.

"We were still good enough to hang in there and get the win."

And Roosters fans will have to wait at least another week to see gifted centre Tautau Moga make his NRL debut, with the 18-year-old considered no chance of a late call-up for the Storm clash.

I will repeat, on this thread, that if the refs allow storm tacklers to strangle our players in tackles and lay over them for up to 7 seconds, while penalizing our tacklers if they don't hop out of the way in less than a second, as has been happening for 5 years or so, we will lose by 65 points.

Yes - the forecast is for mainly sunny. I'm glad you said if, I actually think had it rained the Roosters would have been better off. Slater could go nuts, as could Cronk, Nielsen, Duffie, O'Neill, Quinn. I just don't think we have the skills at present to match it with the better teams.

I look at it this way.
Our handling has been shite, of late.
                The Storms has been good.
If it's wet we might just get the ball to stick (reverse psych).

Smash Slater & see what happens.

We already had our monthly rain yesterday. The one time I venture into suburbia to do a training course in some godforsaken area, and it rains! I did get a birdseye view of AAMI Park though passing through Richmond on the train. Can't wait for Sunday! Tomorrow is going to be quite cold but Sunday the forecast is for a pleasant 22 degrees.

300 was brave. We are overs though at $4.25. I'll probably have a lazy fitty on it. Not 300 tho...

Our defence has been good enough to give them a scare if we can jag some points.

Slater is the issue though. That fukka is worth a 12 to 18 point headstart to them. We need to repeat the Dugan tactic and destroy some part of Slater's anatomy very early on.

Kick low and to the corners away from Slater
Forwards take more hit-ups (less dummy half back three carries)
Mortimer on last 20 minutes of each half
Run ****ing angles and offload like Mateo on meth
                      Bash them!

We will defend well but won't score more than 2 tries.

Sure, we suck balls and Melbourne are undefeated.

But I don't know. If the offloads stick...

                              I agree completely...

But I also reckon this should be our gameplan literally every game we play, so why do people think we're suddenly going to do it against the best team in the comp this weekend?

I bloody hope we do, but I wouldn't be sweating on Smith waking up and creating a gameplan.
