  • Our next Great Clubmen?

Who will take up the mantel to replace some of our recent greats?.. Cords, Friendy, Maubs, JWH, SST, Toops (minimum 8-10yrs & 200 games)

I think Manu will be one along with Rads & have a feeling about Butcher for some reason, & of course Teddy.

Keary is signed until 2024 which makes it 8 years. Hopefully Walker and Suaalii stay here for their entire careers.

Walker. I’m hoping he ends up in our top 3 all time point-scorers for the club.

Yes true about Keary but I wish he wasn't tainted with that bit of Vermin history.

Rads comes across as an out & out Rooster. Would love to see him make 300 games but will be tough between injuries & suspensions

For so long Hastings was our only 200 gamer..................now I couldn't count how many we have.
With the stability we have under Robbo, quite a few of the current lot will make it as well.

There have been a lot of players tainted with that vermin history, don't let that bother you. It has worked both ways as well.

                  Complete bollocks..He isn't tainted.

He stood up to bullies Crowe and Surgess on behalf of his team mates, and gave them a serve, and fked off.

PLUS he has played twice as many games for us and he did for them.

                  Read your history.

                    Yeah I'm thinking...

Top-tier (Cords/Mini/JWH/Toops kinda thing) - Teddy, Manu, Walker, Collins, Butcher and Suaalii.

Utility value (Maubs kinda thing) - Hard ay! I find it easier to think about guys I'd LIKE to stay in that sorta capacity rather than guys I know will stick around. Maybe Verrills, Hutcho, Sitili, Watson... maybe Crichton? Hard to tell at this point.

Any players that go B2B - it puts them in legendary status , above everybody else.
Fond memories of how great the 74/75 side was , those who saw it, still talk about it today.
In 50 years time the current generation will still be talking about how great the 18/19 side was.

i think there is a difference between great clubmen and superstars of the club, it’s easy to roll out names like Teddy, keary, Manu being great clubmen, but they fall into their own category of superstars, clubmen to me are the likes of ricketson, Aubo, friend.

They were all one club players who never really got that much recognition by those outside the roosters, because they weren’t out and out superstars, but players who did the same job consistently every time they played, they played wherever the coach needed them too.

So from the current crop, I’d say Toops and Nat butcher, don’t have that much value in the open market because they aren’t flashy, so they’ll probably stay at the club long term for a bit less than offered elsewhere, and butcher will be the player who plays lock 2nd row, prop and off the bench, making him the new Aubo.
