  • Castore - Not Good Enough

Is anyone else frustrated at Castore and their jerseys?

We all know there has been massive delays with the home and away 2022 kit, along with the training range, which means for those of us who want to purchase a new jersey don't get to wear it for half the season.

Today the Roosters unveiled the 2022 Indigenous Jersey and I couldn't help but notice how awful the Red V integration was over the shoulders on the jersey. For an official unveiling of an important jersey, it's very unprofessional. Take a look at the link below to see for yourself.

    https://www.roosters.com.au/news/202...genous-jersey/

Looking at the retail images, this is clearly not the design

We had the opposite issue with the 20th anniversary premiership jerseys earlier in the year where the player issued jersey lined up perfectly over the shoulders and the retail versions didn't. Take a look at the player issue version:

    https://www.roosters.com.au/news/202...ay-at-the-scg/

And compare it against the retail version where the v integration is near not existent and nothing alike the 2002 playing jersey:

They have also made errors in the design of the player jerseys (how the v is shaped) that wasn't corrected until recently, and put the carsales advertising on backwards on the Storms jersey.

For a jersey that costs $160+ dollar, it is not good enough. Rumour has it the chooks (and Storm) are trying to end the 5 year partnership, lets hope that's true as they have proven they cannot be relied in, just like Kappa all those years ago.

    TLDR - Castore are terrible.

      Their stuff is rubbish.

My best mate at works Son is employed fulltime by the Roosters since mid last year, he is with the squad and in the shed every day. The whole club is done with Castore. Players jerseys 'neck/back' section was farked re. where the gps goes, they had massive issues
I am happy to tell you the club won't be extending their contract with Castore

They signed a 5 year partnership agreement so lets hope there is the equivalent of a player option in the contract!

Teddys jersey was ripped to shreds last week so there is no doubting the lack of quality.

There would have been some significant breaches of the supply contract by Castore, so I’m sure Roosters have an easy out of remainder of contract

Perhaps PUMA who make the State of Origin gear could be worth a look as replacing Castore otherwise go back to ISC ... or pay a bit premium and go for an up market brand like ASICS

Dynasty seems to doing well with a lot of teams/clubs. Other brands like O'Neills, and Classic Sports aren't too bad either.

Castore feels cheap and honestly is just overall poor quality ... whoever decided to engage in a deal with them on the behalf of the club should be sacked !

Would love of we could throw back to the 90s and get Adidas making the kit again!

                      Asics (Japan) - Broncos
                      Castore (UK) - Storm/Roosters

I’ve always bought jerseys every couple seasons but ever since these clowns started designing our jerseys I just couldn’t buy them they look ridiculous, cheap and designed by a toddler with the uneven lines I don’t want to say anymore because I will never say a bad thing about our jersey but this is just crap who are these Castore idiots.
Surely Uncle Nick can see these guys amateurs.

ISC were the ones who decided to pull the pin on NRL Jerseys which left a lot of clubs, including the chooks, with little time to organise a sponsor. Its a shame because ISC were great and the chooks have obviously been rushed into a deal with a sub par company.

This was published back in 2020:

ISC has confirmed that the company will sever ties with the NRL at seasons end, reports The Daily Telegraph.

With the continued worry of COVID-19, the official apparel and merchandise parter of eight clubs have decided to walk away from the game leaving a huge gap with those clubs.

ISC currently have apparel and merchandise with Sydney, Canberra, Parramatta, South Sydney, Wests Tigers, Brisbane, North Queensland and Melbourne.

ISC’s chief executive Jason Schulman listed the struggles that COVID-19 has produced from a business standpoint as a big reason as to why the company will walk away.

“The licensing apparel model for professional sporting teams in general has been under pressure for some time due to a number of factors,” Schulman said.

“With the COVID-19 global pandemic and resulting effect on both the sporting and retail landscapes having a devastating and unprecedented impact on all sporting bodies, entities and related businesses, the ISC Licensing business has been no different.”

The clubs associated with ISC have been in discussion in recent weeks about the next moves. Each club has different deals with the company. Some are lucky enough that their deals expire this year so it won't have as much of a financial impact, while others will have to work through it after being contracted long-term.

Schulman also made it known that the company will move away from AFL club's also and will strictly just continue to support grassroots sport with their team wear.

It’s a shame about Castore because if you look at their product online it looks like it’s high quality. The stuff they have done for the premier league teams also looks good.

My gut feel is that they’ve licensed their NRL products to an inferior manufacturer and the quality control is just not there.

The apparel sponsors rely on large volumes of sales and like with ISC, Covid stuffed the volume for Castore. Thus they had to go on the cheap to get some returns.

Not good enough when you’re dealing with a professional sport
