Hate to say it but next year unless there are some purchases it will be much the same again.

But is it all about Attack now? The best team in recent times has also had the best defence. ie Penrith - stingy as a Scot (no racism intended).

In heavy contact sport like NFL and NRL, there is a maxim repeated by Lombardi, Bryant, Gibson and Bennett that Defence wins championships.

It's our defence that's let us down this year, with lapses in concentration at crucial minutes.

Er back on topic.....cheer up guys, we could be Souths!

Code Wanker looks like an old man forced to run out against his will.

We are playing good enough to beat every other side in the comp except for the Panthers and Storm.

We are top 4 gatekeepers right now. We lack a bit of youth, speed, hunger, aggressiveness and obviously a bloody genuine #9 !

I still think the game wasn't too bad last night as we probably gave them 2-3 tries due to our errors/mistake but in the end they got the 2 points and we didn't. Watson playing dummy-half is looking far much worse than when Radley did during 2019 covering for Friend till Verrills came onto the scene. We can get away with using another forward at Lock as because it'll allow Walker and Keary to control the attack but it would be nice to have someone at #13 who can pass nicely left to right/right to left at first receiver and do the odd dash out at dummy-half and take the line on.

My two key areas that need to improve asap:
          • Dummy half
          • Left centre (this is just me picking on Paul but he is our weakest link in our back line). I'd like to see Billy Smith get another run or put Suaalii in at left centre and blood in Vuate Karawalevu on the right wing. This will give us more speed, power and size in our back and allow Suaalii to get his hands on the ball more at left centre.

we lost v the best team in the comp but we'll get better. hard to know how good we can be but we'll be competitive when it matters. the panthers had something like 60% of the possession in the first half - doubt that will happen next time we play them.

we're a good team. we've got good players and a good coach. we'll take a bit of time to get in our stride but the game v parra showed we're not too far off.

Bizarre being so upset about losing to a team that has won like what 45 of the last 50 games, or some absurd statistic. They're the most dominant team in the last 30-odd years of the game, and you might want to give some credit where it's due.

The chooks aren't that far off the pace. We're not at their level yet, but the reality is that literally no-one is. Gotta clean a few things up, and then go with them for the 80 come September, if and when we run into them.

Of all the performances we've had since 2019, this definitely wasn't one of the ones I was embarrassed by.
              Well said.

Yes we are a good team but not good enough to match Panthers & Storm. We weren't horrible last night & would have probably beaten everyone else apart from them two. *Really* good teams don't lose to Knights, Dragons & Bulldogs in a short time frame. Panthers & Storm don't care about building themselves into a season. They come out fast from the blocks & say catch us if you can.

The seasons may change, elected officials may come and go but Trewhella's pisspoor takes on league and life in general are everlasting.

In my mind set I aint no different to the coach ..expect to win jackshit this year..he is more preparing for a better day and year which will be the next two.
Or since Trewhella is back we can work on sacking the coach and get Barret in.

Think we're in with as good of a shot as anyone bar Penrith and the Storm to win the comp. If the Panthers have an injury or two, they'll be brought back to the fold. Look at what has happened to Melbourne over the last two weeks. And Penrith still have to get through the Origin period, and it's a lot of footy for that squad over the last three weeks. Playing a lot of Origin and deep into September each year.

We have some very good players to come back, and hopefully one of our young forwards really kicks on (May looked good against the Panthers). We have plenty of improvement left in us, and the only side I would really not want to face in September would be the Panthers.

We competed for thirty minutes. That's probably an accurate representation of where we are as a football team.

Yes, but they're not the ones who won back to back titles with that approach, are they?

If you go through both teams right now……..
I agree. This analysis favours the panthers.

let’s talk about where most of that squad was a year ago and where our squad was
                                stay with me on this.

I would estimate at least seven of their players were unknown or fringe first graders 18 months ago.

If we go through our squad
Teddy…Dally M winner rivals Nathan Cleary
Keary….state of origin player rivals Jerome L
Sammy is 18 months in and has enormous potential but the same could be said of most of Penrith

Possibly hooker is where the Riff had the edge and I do concede that no prob.

                                Toops
                                JWH
                                Manu
                                Angus

                                all rep standard.
we can debate about the rest.

There should be enough there to put in a better performance if you are a top 4 contender.
I am very concerned about the next few years with the cattle we have as I don’t feel Robbo( who is a very good coach) has developed the next generation of players effectively.
I would argue that since Robbo has been head coach at the roosters he has always coached a team with a genuine chance at winning but I don’t see that this year or any time soon and he is the boss so the buck stops with him.
It is complete insanity to compare him to Bellamy cause on paper we had a better team than them at the start of the year.
                                barbarian ......arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh!!!!!!!
